Topic: BAND SIMILAR TO OPETH??? Posted: September 17 2005 at 02:44 |
Hi guys, I'd been an Opeth fan ever since ORCHID came out, but
was not impressed with their last two offerings, until I heard the new
instant fukin classic of an album GHOST REVERIES!
All I can say is - WHAT AN ALBUM!!?
It displays such fine musicianship, brilliant vocals and instrumentation from a whole range of genres,.
There's one problem...
I can not physically WAIT for the next OPETH release - I need a fix
NOW, something similar with heavy death-black vocals, then acoustic
bits, then BACK to death and...well, I call it the OPETH sound...
Anyone similar please????!!!!
Reccomend me some albums!

Kohllapse -
Thanks mate, have heard a LOT about Edge of Sanity, but have never actually heard them. I prefer Opeth's more acoustic parts as opposed to their deathier outings, are Edge of Sanity as good as Opeth at creating that dreamy atmosphere?
What do you think of Ghost Reveries?

Most definitely Edge of Sanity, but be warned...Crimson II is a far cry from the brilliance of Crimson.
Also check out Dan Swano's(from EoS)solo album Moontower.

I think Ghost Reveries is the best album Opeth has ever released, even better than Blackwater Park and Deliverance(my personal faves).

Yea, Dan Swano, Bloodbath and Edge of Sanity are great...guess wherever
Swano is there's quality. Speaking of him you might dig Diabloical
Masquerade's stuff...or you might totally not.
