I like Madonna, and although her James Bond theme song was largely derided I, like maidenrulez, like it!

I like a lot of Madonna's music, particularly from the early 90's, when she was going through her "sexually explicit" controversial stage - "Justify My Love" is one of my all time Madge favourites.

But I have to agree with most comments so far that "Ray of Light" is her best album. Some really great moments with "Frozen" being my favourite track.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but Madonna is still "Queen" of pop, imo.

Justify my Love!  Great song, written by Lenny Kravitz I think.

Ray of Light is the best album she ever done IMO. I have True Blue, and Music, but they are not a patch on ROL. A lot depends on the producer she chooses. On ROL she chose William Orbit to get that 'hip' house/techno vibe in her music. She is a massive fan of more experimental British dance music, notably Aphex Twin and Squarepusher and the like... The director of the 'Frozen' video, Chris Cunningham, also directed such classics as Aphex Twins 'Come to Daddy' and 'Window Licker' There is a DVD of his work out including Madonnas vid. Reccomended!

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Not sure, but she is friends with Richard D James (Aphex Twin) and I know they talked about doing stuff together. You may find something if you look on the 'Warp' website. I think thats AT's record company.

The song Ray of Light has definite prog connections!

It's a reworking of a 1971 track 'Sepheryn' by UK
group Curtiss Maldoon.

Dave Curtiss was the bass player with Steve Howe's
pre-Yes band Bodast and Howe plays on a couple of
tracks on the CM album (although not on Sepheryn).

Curtiss quit music in the early 70s but apparently the
royalties from Ray of Light enabled him to re-start his
musical career.

madonna' s early stuff is not bad: her best track is Cherish

don't forget that leonard (roger waters' amused to death's keyboardist) was her official keyboardist!

She's a clever businesswoman, but I don't like her music.  I must admit I dowloaded a picture of her and miss Spears from some MTV gala for... private use.
