I know what I want to do. I'm determined to create and make a distorted, heavy-guitar type piece with GarageBand.
Nothing big. But, I've got my acoustic guitar, and my main beats ready to go. Any ideas on how to go about this? I'm talking about a full-length, quality piece. And obviously I'm not talking about a prog piece, since neither GarageBand nor I are even close to ready for the progressives. I'm talking more along the lines of an efficient experiment.

I have an ok, beta-type piece already made. I'm having problems expanding the piece though (it's 27 measures). I don't think it's because of my creativity, but more because of my limitations. I could just make an acoustic-driven piece, but the drums are all coming out as techno and club beats. Basically, the keyboard isn't working out for me, as well. You have any ideas on how I can get around this?

I think the first thing to do is frankly to ditch Garageband and then use a more useful DAW like Reaper or Cubase.
The way I work is to (a) get the drums down first in 12 bar segments, then lay down keyboards. Solo instruments come last. As above, "do what you feel". 90% of all music projects turn into brown plasticene, if it's not working, ditch it, try something else. An acoustic guitar will only lend itself to acoustic guitar. And if the drums are just one repeated pattern with a few fills, "dance" drums is all you'll get. It's a learning process. Takes years. |

As an example.
This took seven months to finish, on and off. https://brotherhoodofthemachine.bandcamp.com/album/the-golden-voyage-to-samarkand |

I'll check the piece out when I have time, but I don't think I'm ready yet to go for the powerful software. Still too young and adventurous to get too far with music...
But do you have any methods to spark creative thinking maybe?
