Hopefully Alex won't announce them as Blah blah, blah-blah-blah.

What do you think.......Geddy sits in on bass for their performance? That would be very cool!

it would beat the hell out of the ever boring billy sherwood. i wouldn't even mind geddy doing a few vocals. Anything would be better than jon davidson. I couldn't take his minnie mouse voice in the last tour. i had to leave. thank god i got my money's worth with the Toto opener. They were phenomenal. That incarnation of Yes should have opened for Toto. Chris Squire tribute show opens with "dont kill the whale"... Shameful. Pfffft!

Yeah, the worse thing about Sherwood is that he was handpicked by Squire himself to replace him, but I just don't think that he's up to the task, at least not if you want Yes to keep up the god-like standards they had during the 70's... though I find it almost impossible that they would actually reach such standards again, I think at least they should aspire to do so... and choose their new members accordingly. Though I have been thinking Nick Beggs would have been the perfect replacement for Squire since I heard "The Raven that Refused to Sing", perhaps now that Rush is almost doomed to stop working Geddy Lee would actually be the ideal fit for Yes... have him into the band and have Anderson and Wakeman back, and then perhaps Yes could try to be an important prog band again.

Essentially that is where I was going with my post/thought.....Beggs is excellent with SW, but I think from a vocal possibility Geddy would be a really nice fit. I like Sherwood but think he is not the right fit for Yes songs.....I think would be cool, very cool!

I do not think that Nick would do this at all. I think that he has some creative freedom and abilities which are very well used with Steven Wilson, and this would not happen with YES, and I sincerely doubt that would take it. Somehow, just hearing a STICK with YES, seems a bit far off and not with it. I like the work Chris did, a lot, however, it was really about spreading the abilities of his instrument and it ended there, unfortunately. He never really came out trying a Stick, a 5 string (that I can see) and such, though some would suggest that he did not need them at all, and could do better, which he did for many years! I would think that Nick is way too happy being with someone like Steven Wilson, and around musicians and folks that know and understand "progressive" music and can take it further. Honestly, at this point, I prefer Nick's work way more than Tony Levin ... way more expressive and less mechanical! AND, it's giving Steven Wilson a feel and personality that otherwise would not be there, I don't think!

Cool.
I think i've read Getty was a Yes (and chris squire) fan, but did rush and yes ever have any association in the past?

How can Billy Sherwood not be the right fit for Yes and Yes songs? He's already played with them and sang and wrote songs on some of their albums.

He's not the right fit because nearly all his contributions to Yes have sucked or at best been second rate. He's sort of the "Being There" (if you know the film lol) of crossover prog----he's hung out so long he got himself in. But doubt there is any hope of Yes getting rid of him or doing anything interesting for the duration of their existence.-But Dellinger has a great idea. At least Hackett gets the best guys available to play his and Genesis music which is why he is so popular today and selling out---his concerts sound amazing unlike Yes. I remember Rush saying how much they loved Relayer and wished they could do something of that calibre ---I don't think they ever did but they loved early Yes. |

There was something about Geddy Lee actually performing with Yes on the induction night, but then somone said Rush's official page actually made a statement that was not true... still I think and hope it should happen.

I'm not so sure Nick wouldn't do it. I just read a list of his favourite bass players, and Squire was there at number 1. |

Exactly... even though I usually have some interest on what Billy Sherwood gets involved in (mostly because of the people he surrounds himself with for his projects), I always end up disapointed. I guess Sherwood is actually a great bass player, but Yes needs the best bass player available, not just a great one. And with any luck he may be out at some (I hope not too distant) point... Yes has hardly ever had the same line-up for 2 albums in a row (and never for more than two, if you consider ABWH in the middle of the Rabin era albums), so I guess someone muse step aside soon (or perhaps get kicked out). Perhaps this Hall of Fame thing will get Anderson and Wakeman together with the rest of the band again and tour the way they should have been doing so for a few years already. |

And then Geddy and Alex will escort Neil Diamond to the men's room.

Saw something to the effect last night, and now they are saying Geddy has only been confirmed to induct Yes, not play with them on stage... Left hand/right hand..blah blah
