Which do you like of these two movies, movies that renewed the way people expect from movies of that kind.

I really enjoyed Interstellar despite the plot holes. I found the black hole and wormhole scenes fascinating. I would have loved to have seen more scenes on Edmunds' planet though (the final planet where Anne Hathaway lands and sets up a compound). Many people complained that the movie was too long but I wish it had been longer!

Inception had some interesting ideas but I couldn't connect with it emotionally. I felt the acting was not as good as Interstellar.

what i liked about Intersellar was how poetical it was, and how it captured the event horrison.

I think Interstellar is Nolan's best flick. He managed to turn down his fondness for non-stop action and explosions, and the movie really benefited from that imo.
I think Inception is a mess tbh. I dig the idea of the movie as well as the thoughts it should've spawned, yet the execution was extremely lacking and unnecessary complicated.
I watched it again here the other day and was even more disappointed with it. Some times I change my mind about these things, but I don't see that happening here.

Sorry for the negativity in advance.

I was actually disappointed with both, and neither really connected with me, though I did like the Interstellar sequence when they are on the Damon planet.

Inception was so praised, and yet it left almost no impression on me (the action got boring) and Interstellar made little impression on me too.   Neither film left me thinking or provoked a great sense of wonder while watching.

Interstellar has been hailed by some as a sort of great successor to the 2001: A Space Odyssey legacy (I know I could phrase that better), but I found it nowhere near as good, memorable, or thought-provoking.

For my tastes, I've seen many much more satisfying SF films over recent years than Interstellar. That said, I quite enjoyed both, and hardly consider either bad, just neither excited me.

From quite recent years, last ten or so years (and sometimes loosely losing the term SF):

Under the Skin (of course this film has had many rave reviews)
20th Century Boys Trilogy (from Japan, I adored this)
Timecrimes (Spanish film, and I found it fantastic)
Never Let Me Go (poignant, loved the book more still)
Antiviral (from David Croneneberg's son, thought it very good)
Transfer (German film that I found excellent)
Zero Theorum
One Point O
Mr. Nobody
Moon
Snowpiercer
Sunshine
Monsters
Predestination
Blindness
A Scanner Darkly
District 9
Pandorum (often panned, but I liked it a lot)
Code 46
Children of Men
The Fountain (not so big on)

And in the more fantasy realm, the Bothersome Man, Visioneers, and Branded.

V for Vendetta, which everyone knows, not sure how to classify that other than dystopian. Lots more, but I know a laundry list like this without info isn't great use.

The latest film I really wanted to see in the theatre, but missed its limited engagement was High-Rise (have yet to see it).

Interstellar was great. I haven't seen Inception.
