Our good friend and guitar hero Denis D'Amour aka Piggy is very ill. We are helping Denis in every way that we can to feel comfortable while he fights to get healthy. Denis is a very private person and does not want to make a big deal about his illness, so we will not be able to answer questions about his condition or give any other details at this time. We appreciate your understanding.

According to Blabbermouth, Piggy is suffering from advance colon cancer that spread to his liver already. 

Poor guy, survived a brain tumor in the 80s, but I think he will not be able to recover from this sh!t.

Yesterday evening (26 August, Friday, 2005) Voivod guitarist Denis D'Amour (Piggy) lost his battle with cancer and passed away.   He was 45.

Sad news,my thoughts to his family...

www.voivod.com, www.voivodfan.com and www.theendrecords.com all have more news, the 2nd site even has a space where many fans are posting their sympathies and remembrances of this great talent and super-sweet guy (he really was one of the absolute nicest guys ever). He will be missed by all Voivod fans. He was the foundation of the Voivod sound and the songwriting catalyst.

 Great guy,will be missed.In quebec Voivod are known as pioneer of canadian metal.He was also guitarist of recently re-formed 70's prog/art rock band Aut'chose,another legendary quebecois act.R.I.P.
