I was on FB and somehow started checking the amount of likes some bands had to see their popularity. These are the amount for the biggest prog bands (maybe I forgot some)

-Camel (94.000) (but not an "official" page)
-King Crimson (362.000) (idem)
-Porcupine Tree (555.000) (idem)
-ELP (666.000)
-Zappa (690.000)
-Yes (756.000)
-Supertramp (760.000)
-Jethro Tull (1.200.000)
-Kansas (1.400.000)
-Opeth (1.400.000)
-Tool (1.400.000)
-Genesis (1.900.000)
-Rush (2.900.000)
-Dream Theater (3.600.000)
-Pink Floyd (29.500.000)

And some "prog related", etc.

-Moody Blues 1.000.000
-ELO 1.500.000
-Radiohead 11.000.000
-The Doors 16.900.000
-Muse 17.300.000
-Queen 29.000.000

And in individual pages

Peter Gabriel 1.500.000
Roger Waters 1.700.000
David Gilmour 2.130.000
Phil Collins 5.900.000 Stern Smile
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place

Checking some jazz Weather Report has 240.000, Jaco Pastorius 360.000, Herbie Hancock 850.000, Miles Davis 2.000.000. Far more than I expected in these cases.

And Pink Floyd remains the Monster of prog. I wonder how they are doing compared with the pop icons of this times.

Where do you see all the likes? Might be a dumb question but I went to Taylor Swift's page and I didn't see how many 'likes' she had but there was a picture that said: "100+"

So it seems not even Pink Floyd can compete with today's pop artists... yet I would like to see how popular she will be in 20 or 30 years...

I actually removed Genesis from my 'likes' on Facebook because it pretty much turned into a page about Phil Collins. I constantly see 'Anniversary of We Can't Dance!!' or "In October 1991, Genesis grooved up the charts, hitting No.7 on both sides of the Atlantic with ‘I Can’t Dance!", lyrics to 'Jesus Knows Me'... Ehh..

Dead
I think a vast majority of Progarchives members tend to stay away from Facebook. 48 people 'like' 'Quella Vecchia Locanda', so I know Facebook is bias

I'am always checking this kind of thing also...

Pink Floyd has the same amount of likes of contemporary pop artists, its impressive...
- From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

Perhaps you did not "like" the right Genesis FB page. There must be some about the Gabriel era specifically, so you might want to look for such one.

I believe no other metalband comes even close to Metallica that has 37 million likes.

As a guy interested in stats and numbers I also keep checking out the likes of my favorite bands.

I'm the same way. Numbers mean everything to me and so do sabermetrics in baseball.
