Anyone in the Baltimore/DC area should not miss the screening of the film at the Orion Studios on May 16. The Muffins will be performing either before or after the film. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the show is expected to start at 7:00 (though the Orion is notorious for delays). Tickets (cash only, at the door) are $20, and bringing your own small folding chairs is recommended (unless you want to stand or sit on the floor).

The Muffins were excellent yesterday evening, even if their set was a bit on the short side. Unfortunately, we left after their performance, as I was not feeling well. It's a pity that the bad weather (coupled with the heavy traffic due to the Preakness horse race in Baltimore) probably kept some people away from the Orion Studios.

PROGDAY Movie Screening - ROMANTIC WARRIORS III!
ProgDay is hosting a FREE showing of "Romantic Warriors III - Canterbury Tales" at the official ProgDay hotel, Comfort Inn University, 3508 Mount Moriah Rd., Durham, on Saturday night at 9:30pm. ROMANTIC WARRIORS III - A Canterbury Tale A Progressive Music Saga by Adele Schmidt and José Zegarra Holder (USA/2015/118 Min.) How did a small allegedly non-existent "scene" of a dozen musicians from the mid-sixties British town of Canterbury go on to change the musical path of their time? The emergence of the Canterbury Scene represents a remarkable period in the history of British progressive rock music, and notably, the development of Jazz Rock. Its three most timeless bands, Soft Machine, Caravan, and Gong, continue to inspire contemporary musicians all over the world. "This is without doubt absolutely essential viewing for anyone interested in the Canterbury Scene, Progressive Rock or Jazz Rock." - Roger Farbey/All About Jazz "A practical guide for a vibrant and diverse scene that continues to evolve." - Sid Smith/PROG Magazine "Beautiful, deeply touching." -Raffaella Berry, Progmistress "Consistently compelling!" -Bruce Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery, NYC ProgDay 2015 will take place on Saturday, September 5th, and Sunday, September 6th, at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina featuring THE MERCURY TREE (US), QUANTUM FANTAY (Belgium), MARBIN (Israel/US), PASCAL GUTMAN TRIO (France/Mexico), TRYO (Chile), JACK O’ THE CLOCK (US), ECCENTRIC ORBIT (US) and UT GRET (US). For more information, and to hear music from this year's bands, please visit us at www.progday.net. Romantic Warriors III - Canterbury Tales DVD is available for sale at http://www.progdocs.com

Festival cruises are a music lover's utopia. But....there is nothing that compares to the shared experience of an outdoor progrockumentary movie screening after sunset... on a Prog Cruise! We are delighted to announce that our feature length documentary film "Romantic Warriors III - Canterbury Tales" will have a special free screening on one of the evenings (day to be confirmed) at the third annual “Cruise to the Edge” progressive rock cruise, which this year is featuring the band Yes and over two dozen other bands. Joining the filmmakers for a post-screening Q&A will be Pye Hastings of Caravan, and Leonardo Pavkovic, head of the Moonjune label, both of whom featured on the film, as well as Gary Green, former Gentle Giant guitarist, who participated in the first film of the Romantic Warriors Series, and possibly legendary guitarist Allan Holdsworth, who was part of one of Soft Machine's memorable line ups. The cruise will sail November 15, 2015 from Miami. The other bands on the cruise marquee include Marillion, Spock’s Beard, Caravan, Saga, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Anglagard, Three Friends, Anathema, and Nektar, among other bands, and many individual artists who are well-known players in the prog-rock community including guitarists Allan Holdsworth (King Crimson, Soft Machine) and Martin Barre (Jethro Tull), and singer Casey MacPherson (Flying Colors). Upcoming Screenings - Romantic Warriors III - Canterbury Tales: Sat, September 5 - ProgDay, NC - free Rock In Opposition Festival (RIO) Screening with French subtitles http://www.rocktime.org/rio/index.php/en/ November 15-19 - Cruise to the Edge - free |

prog cruises sound like so much fun... except for the part that has to do with being on a cruise ship. Good luck and sounds like it could be a helluva hoot. Shame we couldn't get those luminaries to Progday...safely on land.. |
