This !! And I have to say Deftones sounds like they're hard of hearing.... And System Of A Down sounds dodgily depressing and makes me wanna slash my wrists..... And that's without having heard a millisecond of either........

Deftones for Post-Metal/Math-Rock ; System Of A Down for Rock In Opposition ; Korn for Heavy-Prog.

I'd say neither. I do enjoy the first SoaD album, but it's a loooooong ways from what I'd consider prog. I used to love White Pony from Deftones, but the last time I span it I had to turn it off after two songs. Tastes change I guess. I wasn't fond of snaps when I was 5 fx.

I really like the 1st 2 SOAD albums but don't really consider them in any prog category.

SOAD, Slipknot and Godsmack are in my MOST HATED bands. I can't stand them.
But... SOAD is proggish than Deftones, but not close to prog in itself.
Other hand, I had a crush on Deftones when younger. And they have some Shoegaze/The Cure influences in their sound. Great band!!!
hmmm... nowadays when I look back to the new metal era, my favorites are KoRn, From Zero, Deftones and Element Eighty. sh*t, there were a lot of bands, many many bands with two or three great tracks and the rest only pure bullsh*t and sameness.

I love System of a Down, and I've considered them to be a progressive band. I have all of their albums, and find all of them flawless. Serj Tankian's solo stuff is really good too.
And speaking of Korn, I also really like them. Their newer stuff, no, but Korn put out some great albums like their self-titled, 'Issues', and 'See You on the Other Side'. Even they had some progressive times, 'Shoots and Ladders' has a bagpipe intro, Something not really heard in metal.

Yes, not my cup of tea. The SoaD song I am most familiar with is the one where the guy keeps referring to his "self-righteous suicide" and then quoting the Gospel ("why have you forsaken me", etc.). It doesn't really get more depressing. And dumb. No wonder why teenage suicides are up.
