Topic: Shadow Circus Begins Work on New Album Posted: October 16 2007 at 12:05 |
We are
pleased to announce that we are in the studio and have begun writing material
for the second Shadow Circus CD!
Fans of the first CD will be happy to know that, this time around, we will be
taking full advantage of the running time offered by modern CD's, with two
songs already pushing the "epic" barrier at well-over 15 minutes, and
many more on the way.
This new release will also expand on the writing team of founders John Fontana
and David Bobick, with important contributions coming from our new keyboardist
Richard Horn, and bassist Matt Masek.
So far, we can tell you that listeners will get more of the epic, symphonic
style heard on "Journey of Everymen", as well as some hints at more
modern and heavier, guitar-driven progressive rock.
Our goal is to have the new CD completed by Summer of 2008.

all I can say is, YEEEEHAAAA!
I like what you are saying about the direction of the album. Just don't lose that sense of fun that permeated "Welcome to the Freakroom."

These are great news, JF!
And I'll join HT's recommendation: just keep the nice atmosphere of your debut album.

Thanks, guys! It definitely won't be like "oh, so they've gone in that direction now"...The key ingredients, including that sense of whimsy and playfulness, are a huge part of it...What is new is the energy and chemistry we have together...We plan on recording together as a band this time, whereas the first one was like, let's record the drums and bass, now let's go in and do guitars, now let's do keyboards. This one should be more live-sounding...And now with Rich in the band, who is a great singer, we now have a good three-part vocal harmony section. Rich used to conduct an a Capella group, so the vocal harmonies will be lots of fun...

I echo what HT has posted. Except, I'll add in a "Yeah, Baby!!!"
Listened to the Freakroom the other day and it gets better, and better, and better!!! Can't wait to hear the new stuff.
