Topic: The Best Doors Album Posted: October 27 2013 at 17:55 |
the Doors set the record straight in terms of starting a musical era: psychedelic rock, which led to progressive rock and heavy metal in the 70's. this band was being prog at times during their time together, which made me do this poll. which one is the best out of all of them??

The Soft Parade is underappreciated, so I voted for it. Still, the best on in my opinion is the debut one.

The 1st album is great but I like Strange Days more and think it's "proggier". Between the title cut, People Are Strange, and When the Music's Over it just can't be beat

I love all their albums for different reasons. Their debut is overall my favorite; great song after great song after great song after great song. Strange Days is pretty much the same but to a lower degree. Waiting for the Sun is full of some great experimentation and a radically different and exciting sound. Plus, it's got a lot of my all time favorites, like Not to Touch the Earth and Yes, the River Knows. The Soft Parade, while undoubtedly my least favorite, still gets an A for effort. More experimentation, like on the stellar title track, and the horns really added to some of the songs. Morrison Hotel makes great use of a more bluesy sound, but also keeps some older stuff like Waiting for the Sun and Indian Summer in the mix, giving it a nice eclectic edge. And I love LA Woman for the same reasons.

love the Doors---such a unique sound---probably like the first album--but they are a group where I love a few songs from all their albums--but maybe not the whole album.

L.A. Woman followed by the debut, then Strange Days.

I find L.A. Woman the most mature and interesting musically speaking, it's the best album for me.

I'm far too much of a fanboy to do this. I love the first 6 albums equally and for quite different reasons. They're all "masterpieces" to me, if you will. I can't for the life of me find any bad songs on them....none
I may have to give Morrison Hotel some love if the poll continues like this, but I really don't have a favourite, maybe except for Absolutely Live
BTW I just moved this thread to the right area

Strange Days is my personal favorite. I think it's the flow of the album that I like best. I also like L.A. Woman..but Strange Days is my vote.

Tough choice between Strange Days and L.A. Woman, but ultimately I went with L.A. Woman. The first release would probably be third.

Was stuck between L.A Woman and the debut but I had to go for the debut in the end because it was so influential in the psychedelic era and in all music for that matter
