 Topic: Focus Hocus Pocus Guitar!?

It's impossible! Is it my ineptitude, am I having a bad guitar day? Or is Hocus Pocus by Focus a really difficult song to play? I'm talking about the main chord sequence. Even the tabs on the internet don't sound right when played, and they are incredibly difficult to move to anyway. Anybody know of a simpler version? Or at least a correct version?

It's pretty straightforward barring 1 chord that seems to be a secret known only to Jan Akkerman. Try OLGA (online guitar archive) - they used to have a good transcription that even I could follow and sound vaguely like the original.

might be a good idea...the OLGA one is the one I've already seen, it just doesn't sound right. The first and last chord seem ok, and the intro duh duh duh duh duh bit sounds ok...but the middle chords? Ah well, I've worked out Sylvia, I'm happy :)

It goes Eminor7,,,,, Fmajor7,,,,,Cmajor7,,,,,Bflat dominant7,,,,,,, then the last
chord is that E 7 add 11 chord that I forgot the name off. Its the same chord
in purple haze....Its like x7678x......Sound good?

I know all that but playing the chords only once and then going to the next is difficult, but I'm working it out.

I had
more trouble figuring out the chords than just doing the strum pattern. I
guess after playing those chords alot your hands get the shapes built in.

That would be Em7 ... a standard chord.

Hmm, Hocus Pocus is one of the hardest songs I've come across for a band to play, on a par with Black Betty. You need a superhuman drummer for a start (not to mention someone who can yodel!).

You can say that again. And who can yodel!?!?! I know that's a standard chord MikeEnRegalia but the problem I have is moving to the subsequent ones. Not to worry. Sylvia is an easier alternative.

Hi there,
I forget the name of the chord but the root is A. You play A on the fifth fret and G on the fourth, keeping the open A ringing and hammer on the A octave on the D string ? ? Mess about with this and it should start sounding right ( and also nice n easy :-) Same opening chords as the old music for the snooker ( forget who that is by )
