Fripp has been playing churches for a long time, mostly in his soundscapes context. He is a wierd and spiritual man, which i don't really get, but his playing is, of course, exquisite
And, welcome to Boston! I am a pretty big avant fan, as i know you are. We'll grab a beer sometime and see Perhaps on their home turf. And, there is a small but sometimes quite good prog scene here. Check out the newears site (New England Art Rock Society), for some info, good info on local shows and such.

As usual, only East coast gigs. I understand with the concentrated population, but I would really like to see some of these guys in NorCal. (Hackett played in SoCal on a weeknight - not close enough.) He should come to Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and play in the labyrinth, or rather, give a live version of the sessions they hold where patrons can walk the laybyrinth while music is playing. Wouldn't that be awesome? It would have to be one of his soundscapes shows and not the orchestra, but still.

I knew it. Fripp is always lying. His personality is very changing. Disbanding Crimson, reforming Crimson, stop his carrer, announce that you will do shows.

The Pacific NW is too steeped in Western music and Top Ten ... and anything else, is ridiculous and not likely to get here at all. The Jazz is all traditional, to the point of being ridiculous ... and dig this one ... Eugene got "Return to Forever" and "Zappa plays Zappa" on a double bill, at the best Concert Hall in Oregon ... and Portland didn't. Why? ... even the jazz station in Portland won't play anything other than "traditional" jazz, and the more modern stuff is not ever heard here. And Eugne is only about 15 or 16 times smaller than the Portland area! On top of it, Portland is getting famous for ruining bands and their sound ... you gotta flute? ... stick it where the sun don't shine -- that ain't music! ... you got keyboards? ... that ain't no organ ... and it will miss half the time and not be heard! And they have twice ruined Ozric Tentacles to the point where I have walked out in total disgust. Roger Waters did not sound bad (The Wall), but then, he's going to go on the cruise with Paul Allen after the show, so that one passes the grade, but the local newspapers would not even discuss it ... which tells you where some of these folks are on things politically. Even the Willamette Weekly, is now full of poohpooh and cheap high school writing and journalism, and they have no idea what anything is ... anymore ... except to make sure they can continue their stupid tirades against Portland corruption ... lots of it in the men's bathroom at the Greyhound Depot, and the Women's Lounge at the Race Track! All in all, Gong came through here twice in 5 years, and did well the first time, and only half the folks showed up the 2nd time. University of Errors was half ignored. The Eugene shows for Gong on both tours were sold out and Portland sold more drinks than they did tickets in two places. Damo Suzuki, was bored and could not have any fun, and the bar didn't car either, and even one maid said ... who does he think he is, anyway? ... want more? ... I got more! There is only one way, Robert could make it here ... if someone had a big enough van and could bring him around and do house hold shows, like Patrick Moraz did one time when he was starving, and he was exceptional ... and very nice to meet ... but I'm not sure that Robert would enjoy this half hippy mentality and cowboy attitude that is found here so heavily engrained, that it is almost impossible to talk to them. Seattle can be even worse ... you talk progressive and they go ... ohh you mean like STP? or Nirvana?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
