British Melodic prog rock band 'The Room' have signed to US label 'Melodic Revolution Records', securing the release of their debut album 'Open Fire'. The band, hailing from London and the Home Counties, features Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson from progressive rock band Grey Lady Down, who are joined by Andy Rowe, Andrew Rae and Steve Checkley. Announcing the recording contract, The Room vocalist Martin Wilson said: “We are absolutely delighted to have signed the deal with Melodic Revolution Records. “They are an up and coming label with an incredible energy about them”. Guitarist Steve Anderson said: “Label president Nick Katona has a wealth of industry knowledge and I know we are going to benefit hugely from his advice and support” Katona, of the Florida based Melodic Revolution Records, is delighted with the signing. He said: “From the first tune on the album, I knew that there was something special about this band and I am truly honoured to be working with some of the finest musicians in the world today, known as The Room”. The band’s debut album “Open Fire” will be released on the label later this year (11th December). It was recorded at Platform Studios in Hurst, Berkshire with producer Damon Sawyer. “Open Fire is a stunning debut release for The Room, keep your eyes and ears on this band” said Katona. Andy Rowe, bass guitarist said: “We have worked so hard for the last year on this album and we are so excited by the label’s reaction to it. We can’t wait to get out and play it live” http://www.theroom.eu The Room, promo single 'A Casual Believer' set to photos from two UK shows in October 2011: Jagz Ascot and The Priory Hotel Sc**thorpe. It will be available as an archive for about a week: http://www.livestream.com/aiiradionet/video?clipId=pla_7cde41cf-4640-4058-b708-e549db2a46c8 Edit: Sorry for any offence to residents of the UK town of Sc**thorpe: - it seems to be a banned word on progarchives, as two vital letters from it are automatically blanked by the editor every time I try to write it! Yam Yam, The Room were already suggested here on PA? I tried to find something but couldn't. If not I will suggest them. I have their album to review :)

Suggested twice actually, Diego! Firstly by the band's vocalist Martin Wilson for Neo Prog well before the album was released: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82053, and also by myself for Crossover much more recently: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=91096. You didn't find these suggestions because 'TheRoom' should really be spelt all as one word. I guess I ought to edit the title of this thread to the correct spelling too, but I decided to leave it as it is so that a search for either version would at least throw up something! TheRoom were actually rejected by Crossover before I joined the team, but I since added my 'yes' vote to the mix, and they are now back under consideration: http://progfreak.com/The-Room-155011.html?path=pa/recent. We need another 'yes' vote from either Olav or Marty to seal the deal.
