From my point of view this band was one of the founders of progressive metal.

"Transcendence" is one of my favourite albuns.

great band but they were not progressive metal, their style of music was 100% us power metal...like queensryche's the warning and fates wartning's awaken the guardian. they created two great albums (i like their debut more than transcedence)  and one crap. astronomica is an average album in my opinion. midnight had a great voice with many influences from tate and their debut is among my 20 favourite albums of heavy metal (and among my top 10 albums of us power metal). As i have written in one rewiew i did for them...this is how heavy metal sould sound....and it's sad how it turned to sound by some rockers wannabes with big trousers. (limp bizkit, slipknot, linkin park.....)

Agreed. Shortly after "Transcendence" was released I saw them in concert together with Queensryche. On that night Midnight (no pun intended) was better than in the studio and even better than Tate. He was absolutely powerful and note-perfect, and his high screams could be ... felt ... when one placed one's hand at the walls of the building. Or in other words: his voice almost bombed the concert hall into the stratosphere.
