"You bloody b*****ds!"  -From Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, right at the end, when Taylor (played by Charleton Heston) is machine gunned, and is about to fall and die, and with his bloodied hand, pushes the final button on the Doomsday Weapon which will destroy the planet Earth.

I totally disagree. It is stupendous from start to finish.

I thought the only good part was the "church service," which I felt kind of guilty laughing at because it was somewhat sacreligious, but how can you not laugh at, "And the blessings of the fallout be with you all; Amen."?

The funny part about that movie was that I watched it with my entire family, including my little sisters, who were 7 and 9 or something like that at the time, and because it was rated G my parents thought there wouldn't be anything bad in there for the young ones.  Oops.

I didn't find the part about the impending fallout funny at all. I originally saw it when i must have been only 9. That film was made back around 1970, and it shows. I did not come from a religious family, so found nothing in the religious parody  offensive to my young mind. Compared to what kids these days can get access to, this film is not inappropriate.

^It wasn't funny because it was about the impending fallout, it was funny because there were a hundred people with elongated heads worshiping an atom bomb.

True, kids see a lot worse than that movie these days.  But for a six or seven year old girl growing up in a Christian home, it was pretty violent.  I wasn't even talking about the religious parody when I referenced the rating and such.

Thanks for your reply, thanks for clarifying a bit further.
It is pretty violent in parts, but the violence is never for the sake of violence only , or just to glorify violence, which is common today, and it's usage is always to make clear that violence is wrong.
But someone 6 or 7 watching it? Yeah, i could see your point. But someone 9 or above, no problem.
