OK- Wanted to buy a DVD on Amazon until i saw:

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: it WILL NOT play on standard US DVD player. You need multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player to view it in USA/Canada:

How do I find out of my DVD player can handle this? I have a ps3 and a relatively new Blue Ray player...

THANKS

Search the web for a hack before you  buy the DVD. This will show you (if possible at all) how to enter a code to make your player multiregion.

Failing that your only hope is to buy a multiregion player. I have succesfully done this though. Tell me how you get on.

Yeah, as it says standard US DVD player I wouldn't be surprised if there is a software solution if you are using a drive hooked in to your computer.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Could do if you can't borrow one. Maybe you will see it has worked anyway. For example sometimes you get into a secret menu which actually says "Region Select" and "0 = no region (multi region)" Then it is obvious
