I know that he's not a "prog" musician, but he was one of the most innovative guitarists ever when it comes to creating unique, killer metal riffs. I remember sitting in a computer lab my senior year of high school, interestingly enough listening to "Hollow" on Yahoo! music while working on a project when my drummer friend tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Dude you're not going to be happy... read this article..." and the rest was history.

Seven years without you... RIP, Dime.

I met him several times during the Pantera days.  He was kind of an oddball, but otherwise a genuinely nice guy.  And man oh man could he play.  It's still hard to believe anyone would want him gone.

Rest easy, Dime.

I listened to Far Beyond Driven today without realizing it was the anniversary of his death.  I hadn't listened to a Pantera album since around 2005.  RIP.

great loss indeed.
He was a very good and influential guitarist.
