Live8 itself will not work, but G8 can make a difference, and maybe live8 made an impression on those responsible for the results of that conference.

Hoping for the best, but I'm a bit cynical concerning world leaders motifs

It may make an impression on them, but it's really up to the world leaders.

Band Aid did a lot to help..... governments buy more weapons to control its people... and have a good supper !

Medecins Sans Frontieres prefered to leave Ethopia then give out the food to the military in exchange for the right to stay there and watch people being killed...

Will history repeat itself ? People forget...

Over 600 billion given to Africa over the past 40 years and still no results. What does that tell you?

No, it would NOT. The world leaders are IDIOTS.
GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may,

And this same flower that smiles to-day
   To-morrow will be dying.

It's not the world leadres, it's the dictators ruling the countries in Africa that are the problem.

he's right, these gov'ts are awful.  all the aid goes to their military

Africa needs A) major reform or B) European colonies again

the uberliberals can bitch about The USA's actions , we are no where near as barbaric as some African govts

It's a band aid (no pun intended) rather than a solution for the situation.  Nevertheless, it is a noble thing for musicians (or anyone) to do.
