Saterday 2 Juli, the biggest annual sporting event of Europe will commence.

Any bicicle racers/lovers on the forum?

I'm playing a pool, so any recomendations for cyclist I need to put on my list will be welcome.

I need 15 names, there are some rules, that don't allow each renner to be in the list (maximum number of points to spend, and some cyclist are a bit more expensive)

also during the game there are transfer possibilities (the resting days, and theusday on the chrono race for teams)

rules are explained in dutch over here

my list so far

Every year we play such a game, I never won anything so far, so I need some help, especially since my father won two bicicles already over the last 6 years (funny since he's in a wheelchair, so he has no use for it, sold both of them

anny why, anybody interested in cycling

Yes, i am. I've watched it for about three years now. (It's really hard to avoid all that Armstrong coverage over here). But, it really got me into the sport.

I'm a cyclomanic!!

Well obviously Lance is gonna win. It's his last Tour (probably?) and he must be pretty determined to win it. Jan will be a tough opponent , but he's cracked under pressure from Armstrong and his team so many years through the years, I'm afraid it'll happen once more this year.

I don't see much opposition from the other riders..

Shouldn't it be named the Tour De Lance instead

Or at least until he retires.

AMERICANS ALL THE WAY!!!

Lance Armstrong is really an extraordinary champion...

I guess he's going to win his last Tour de France.

excellent topic tuxon

(1) have been a very committed & dedicated rider and former racer for many years (road, not mtn.).  oh, how i wish i could be there in europe at this time of year, during "le tour"

(2) i was/am very excited to see a fellow citizen from salt lake city (David Zabriskie) get into the yellow jersey. Levi Leipheimer, another tour rider, is also from salt lake city.

(3) lots and lots of serious cyclists there in netherlands, france, etc. - a great sport

- NOW... at the risk of being shot at, here goes...
(4) i am REALLY sick and tired of hearing all the media hype & fluff about lance armstrong in the american press.

a) IMO... he's nothing more than a doper...perhaps he won the first few tours w/o "enhancements" -
however, i agree with those in the pro cycling community there in europe that he is cheating...
only he's very clever at it, and wealthy enough to hire someone to develope a "super drug"

b) NEVER trust a texan...at least if they are professional jocs,  politicians, or baptist preachers.

c) lance does something that all of cycling's greats historically never did... ride just to win one race.

the greatest cycling legend of all time is - and always will be - eddy merckx

(ok...i feel better now, kinda)

I support that emotion. but I like Robbie and Tom also, great bunch of sprinters, too bad Pettaci doesn't ride here, would have been great

Anyway one week before it all really starts

I expect Erik Dekker to win the day after tommorow, or maybe a day later, he's in good shape.

You're just jealous, I think.

Lance Armstrong is the greatest athlete ever IMO, coming through cancer to win 7 (well, it's pretty sure already, isn't it?) Tours, and I'm certainly a big fan of his.

As what comes to doping; well Lance has been in a doping test for like a million times already, yet he has never given a positive test result, so you can just forgive it. Guys like Rumsas and Millar are cheaters, and they deserve to be punished, yet no one is guilty until proven so.

Super drug my ass.
