Il giorno che vivrei Sulle ali del mare Nives L'ultimo pensiero Il Re MUSICIANS Stefano Camilloni - Piano & Voice Andrea Rocchi - Guitar & Voice Fabrizio De Melis - Viola, Violin Giuseppe Tortora - Cello Massimiliano "Mr Fuzz" Diotallevi - Sax Marco Adami - Bass & Synth programming Recorded and mixed by Mark Adams at Kafer Records (Autumn 2010) Mastered by Aldo Azzaro Cover photo by Stephen Camilloni Primaluce Photo: Louis Scuderi CD Graphics: Ivan Muccari Manufactured by Primaluce & Kafer Records. All rights reserved. 2011. They have been compared to The Killers and U2 This is the other track from the EP that they have uploaded to YouTube: Very enjoyable music indeed, but not sure whether it's sufficiently removed from mainstream pop for inclusion on here, and is five tracks really enough material to merit an evaluation anyway?

Yes, this is only an ep (5 tracks) called "Nives". I listened the album, only the first track is pop-rock (for radio promotion in Italy). Other tracks are melodic poprock & prog rock (like "Il Re" or "Nives").
I dont think they could be compared to "U2" or "The Killers". I think they are a modern version of PFM with a new Marillion attitude. Now they are recording a new album, with a real and complete progressive structure. New album will be release in 2012 with the help of one of the most important italian rock drummer (Ezio Zaccagnini - www.eziozaccagnini.com). info here: http://www.primaluce.net/rassegna-stampa/74-ezio-zaccagnini-nuovo-batterista-in-studio-dei-primaluce.html They recorded a complete progressive rock album in 1999 (http://www.primaluce.net/discografia.html) but there is nothing on youtube. The right definition fot these guys is "Pop progressive rock". ![]() |

I have a feeling that more samples will be required for evaluation purposes before this suggestion can be acted upon. That means either waiting until the new album is nearing completion, or submitting samples from the first album, "Tokyodance", to a member of the crossover team, which is the team that this band is most likely to be assigned to for evaluation. Current crossover team members include Evolver and Marty McFly. I was unable to find a source of any samples of the first album myself - it seems to be a fairly obscure release. It may need someone directly connected with the band to send samples of music from that album via private message to one of the crossover team members mentioned above if it is wished to take this suggestion any further at the present time.

Thanks for getting the band to upload these samples of their first album onto soundcloud.com. What I am hearing is definitely worthy of evaluation for crossover, I would think - possibly even neo depending on what the rest of the album is like. The short sample of "Points Of View" was really excellent, and would certainly fall into neo prog category. The other samples are less distinct in terms of sub genre - there seems to be a lot of electronic instrumentation used in this music, & of course the band is from Italy, so there is always RPI to consider, though from the samples provided thus far and the use of English song titles and lyrics, I doubt that this would really be an option in this case. Also, because no samples exist anywhere of the earlier prog album other than the small selection provided today, in order for an evaluation to take place it will still require full samples of (ideally) the whole album to be sent by private message to a collaborator from a relevant evaluation team, (I still believe it will probably be crossover that handle this band) or alternatively to either of the two admin guys who monitor this forum, Andyman1125 or harmonium.ro, who would pre-evaluate the music themselves and then allocate it according to their interpretation of which sub genre they think it would best fit. Thanks again for your help with this so far.
