I know there are alot of polls simlar to this, but please respond. I tried to chose (for the most part) albums that had low ratings. This obviously stopped towards the end. So please voice your opinion.

His "Joe's Garage" trilogy never convinced me.

Joe's Garage is one of his best albums. Surely it depends on whether you like his humour ...

The Central Scrutinizer

Gay Bob ... Blow Job

Why does it hurt when I pee

Plooking

Dong Work For Yoda

It's incredibly funny! And approximately 40% of the album is crazy freaked out improvising solos ...

Anyway ... I voted for (against) Francesco Zappa.

And So is the first track from "Just another ...". Billy The Mountain is also one of the comedian highlights of Zappa.

Got to be 'Francesco Zappa'. I like at least one track on 'Thing Fish', but Francesco is nearly unlistenable to me. I can't believe people have voted for 'Joe's Garage'. It is nowhere near Zappa's worst album.

I agree about studio tan. The only reason i included it in this poll is that out of the four people i know that have listened to it (not including me), only one has liked it. And with JABFLA, that rating is not so good here, so i thought i should included that as well.

I've listened to about 6 of his albums and they have not grabbed me in the least bit.  at all.  i do not understand why people worship him.

NetsNJfan:

I suppose it would have to deal with the albums you tried. So what were they??

Frank Zappa — Strictly Commercial: The Best Of

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Thing Fish, though to be fair I've only ever heard bits of Francesco Zappa and highly unimpressive it was too.

Joe's Garage has some excellent material on it, particularly on disc 2, but the narration gets a bit tiresome after the first couple of spins.

The second half of Studio Tan is excellent, but I generally skip Greggary Peccary although even that has some excellent arrangements.

The sequence of albums that started with Tinsel Town Rebellion was his low point IMO, a series of slick but uninspired live/studio hybrids from about '79 to '84, although the Guitar album shows that even then he was capable of producing the goods when he wanted to.

Francesco Zappa was indeed a highly unimpressive album and only an album that someone would get if they need to complete a Zappa collection..... otherwise don't waste your time or $......

'SLEEP DIRT' ?????????????

I think it's one of Zappa's best albums, but to each his own I suppose.
