Hi there, the new album is nearly finished, we have a huge selection of dates to support the release and its all looking and sounding dandy - but then I would say that lol. This is just a quick note to say that there's a new Credo track that can be downloaded from our website www.credo.gb.com if any of you are interested in what we've been up to lately. The mp3 is about 23MB, so if you prefer just to listen, it's the first track on our myspace music player www.myspace/credogb. It's also on the cover CD of Classic Rock Prog Issue 14 (track 4), if you want a 'hard copy'. I hope you like it. All the best, Mark |

I've just remembered I have heard your band on a free sampler CD given out at a DT gig in Newport. Must dig it out.

PRESS
RELEASE Credo’s Third Album ‘AGAINST REASON’ released in April is setting the Progressive Rock world alight and thoroughly deserves a wider audience. With over 250 years between the members of the band, what is so special about Credo that they are still going strong after twenty years as a band, with "Against Reason" only their third album? “We’re just a bunch of old farts living our dream, trying to make great music and have some fun!” says lead vocalist Mark Colton. “It’s just the greatest buzz that we are now getting played with - and being compared to – our musical heroes after all this time…” Perhaps it’s something to do with the diversity in the band, with five totally different and very interesting characters, coming together just to create amazing music. They are a democracy (when they’re not on the verge of killing each other…); all contribute to the end result, which is probably a bit of a rarity in itself! And the end result is – energetic, vibrant, melodic rock with intricate and lush soundscapes, lyrical challenges and powerful melodies. Credo just get a huge amount of pleasure making great music; they love playing in front of live audiences. And it shows. A bit of a niche in the Progressive Rock firmament, a Credo show is pure entertainment. Lead vocalist, Mark Colton, is a natural showman, who weaves the story and pulls the emotion out of every song. With a comedian’s twinkle and gift for the gab, he never fails to rouse the audience between songs as well as during, with his conversational narratives never wandering very far from the knuckle. Mike Varty is the band’s adulterer. Well-known in the Progressive Rock world for his contribution to a number of bands, he is just a keyboard tart. An instinctive musician with enviable skill, Mike is seemingly effortless and compelling on stage. His playing makes for stunning soundscapes which are totally captivating. Mike also has a fantastic ear and talent for arrangement and is the Producer of the Credo albums. Sickening isn’t it…? The ‘Rocking Troll’, Tim Birrell might be small in stature, but what he can get out of a guitar is truly enormous. Tim is an extraordinary player; he looks as if he is on a walk in the park as his fingers fly over the strings. But whatever the technicalities of his phenomenal skill, Tim just makes the guitar sing in a very rare way indeed. Tim is also the band’s conscience and is compelled to message the world in the diverse subject matter of the songs. As Phil Collins always says (and he would wouldn’t he..?) a band is only as good as its rhythm section. And with Jim Murdoch (Bass) and Martin Meads (Drums), it doesn’t come much better. As someone said recently “They are tighter than a goldfish’s chuff!” Jim is the band dreamer and many a fine concept has emanated from his head and heart. Jim's signature melodic baseline is also almost like a third lead instrument at times, as well as providing a sturdy backdrop for the band. Martin is known to have four arms. You only ever see two of them, but most people agree that the other two must be secreted about his person somewhere. Martin does far more than laying down the beat (sometimes ignoring it altogether…), making an invaluable contribution to the overall structure of the band and an energetic and exciting spectacle on stage. In conclusion, the five of them have all been around the block a bit; they’ve had more than their fair share of personal tragedy as well as triumph, but when asked what they want to achieve, they all still believe that the sky is the limit! Five middle aged men in a rock band? It’s what fantasies are made of. And this is a band which is just beginning to realise its full potential. With
Against Reason, they are attracting new fans on a daily basis. Catch
them now before the rheumatism well and truly sets in… NOTES TO EDITORS
