Topic: Sold Out :( Posted: October 19 2010 at 05:35 |
They're not prog but The National are coming here (New Zealand) for three days in January and being a fan, I trooped down to get tickets. I figured they're not the biggest band in the world and three shows is a lot for one city- we only have half a million people in Auckland- so I never dreamed that tickets would be sold out. And of course, they were, all three shows.
Which got me thinking, anyone here got any (prog related probably) sad and sorry "sold out" stories?

Oh that's bad, The National are absolutely fantastic. I managed to see them during the 2009 summer, but since the last album they haven't been here.
Not a sold out story really, and not that much more prog related than the National, but I had the ticket for the final show of the Shearwater European tour in Helsinki, but got a terrible flu the day before and couldn't go. Everyone praised the gig, including the band, and I was at home with my flu and my ticket which I'd bought the minute they came on sale

That is too bad, usually tickets in NZ for all but the really big bands stay on sale for at least a little while. Just get tickets to Big Day Out instead, lots of good stuff coming

Haha, that made me remember I was considering the idea of going to see The National on November 23rd. And I checked the ticketing sites right now and indeed they are sold out Good thing that I hadn't made up my mind, then.

Well, the good thing about this day and age is that you might be able to get a DVD eventually.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Half a million, well, now that you are a supercity, say hello to 1.4m. And yes, I missed out on Isis earler this year.

I bought the Meet & Greet tickets to Yes in Vancouver last year ... but then Chris Squire got sick and the show was cancelled and they haven't been back near here since.

They weren't sold out, but for both Tool shows I've been to I was stuck with crappy upper-level seats, in spite of getting tickets within minutes of sale. I did completely miss out on Radiohead, though.. too damn popular.

When I read the topic: Sold Out , I was thinking that it was going to be a whole thread on Phil Collins. How wrong I was.
