Beethoven’s Große Fuge was met almost with disbelief. 15 minutes with uneuphonious, dissonant chaos. Later, Stravinsky would celebrate it as a masterpiece. I agree with him. Listen here and read the comments from critics throughout the 19th century:

Btw, with "not my cup of tea", I mean that you find it well crafted but don’t like it much.
