Very American, very whimsical, very quirky, very fun.
Do they have any fans on this forum?

Yes, I like them very much!
TMBG have been one of my favourite duos since the late 80s. They are one of the few bands I have followed from their early years (I started with the second album Lincoln).

I enjoy a lot of their stuff - very hit and miss, but they hit the spot often enough for me. Apollo 18 is my favourite album - I also love the film they took their name from.

Heh, we likes 'em anyway! With you on Apollo 18, Syz. Definitely their most consistent.

On another board they were highly recommended by people who usually had a similar taste to music as me. So I bought the most recommended album, can't even remeber the name. Played it and it has been collecting dust ever since.

TMBG are basically a duo. Two singers/songwriters whose main instruments are keyboards (accordion, synths and samples) and guitar respectively.
Their music is an eccentric and eclectic mix of rock, pop, jazz, country etc. etc.
Their songs are mostly short or very short.
Their lyrics are thoughtful, humorous and bizarre.
Recommended albums: Lincoln, Apollo 18, John Henry, Severe Tire Damage (Live), Mink Car and The Spine

One of the non-prog bands in my collection! I love thier compositions and strangness. Lyrics are quite good as well. One of my favorites.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
