Hey guys, just curious to see if anyone has any suggestions for us. Anyways, we play progressive/avante garde rock and we're from Binghamton, New York. We're just wondering if anybody knows of any venues/festivals/events that we may be able to try to play at?? We're finding it very difficult to find places that are open to our type of music and that have a decent scene to play to. I'd be very happy if anyone gave us any ideas or places to try out. Places not too far away from Binghamton would be nice but further away is fine as well. Thank you so much to anyone that responds! :-)

Here is our music page: myspace.com/elektrykbestia

Thanks again...

There are lots of crazy clubs in NYC, you might be able to play at The Stone, I've never heard of most of the people on the schedule. The only problem is that I have no idea how you do that: they don't have a phone number or email address and they don't accept demos. I guess you just have to somehow get John Zorn to see your Myspace page. ;-) If you lived near Maryland, I would suggest Sonic Circuits, they seem to be more relaxed than John, probably because there are less people who care down here.

oh lol, I just realized you're over 3 hours away from NYC, I guess that's not helpful. But I have no idea what's near Binghamton, so that's what you're getting from me!

Thanks alot for your response. NYC is not too far for us actually. We did a show at sullivan hall just a couple months ago or so in manhattan. Anyways, I'm guessing you live in Maryland then? Considering you mentioned Sonic Circuits I'm making that assumption and why do you say less people care down there? Less people go out to music events? Thanks again for your response too...

I've never actually been a Sonic Circuits show, although I'll be going to part of their festival in a couple weeks, so I don't know how many people show up. But what I meant was that a lot of people must be throwing things John Zorn's way simply because he's John Zorn, and likewise, NYC probably has a lot more aspiring artists than Silver Spring, even taking population density into account. The Sonic Circuits shows are, besides the festival, almost all local or semi-local musicians, so I'm assuming it's easier to get in as a band that's not well-known. And even some of the festival players are local, although they're much lower on the poster than Merzbow and Magma, obviously.

Oh wow that's cool, Magma. So yeah, I'm thinking maybe I shall try to get in touch with Sonic Circuit and see if they may dig our stuff and let us play. You never know until you try and thanks for your suggestions and feedback. It's really helpful for me...

Best regards...
