I recently got Freak Kitchen's 'Dead Soul Men' CD. I must say that it's one of the best albums I've heard which has been released in the late 90's (I have a distaste for emo, nu-metal and hip-hop). It's very electic and you can definitely here lots of different styles of music in there. I think this also goes for all of their albums but I'm not sure yet.

Their lead guitarist/vocalist Mattias Eklundh certainly is one of the most original and technical guitarists I've heard. He's just as good or even better than Steve Vai. Mattias has an amazing command of harmonics (he produces harmonics by smacking harmonic areas with the joint of his finger).

Upon hearing Freak Kitchen, I thought they were kinda proggy. Looking at the Power Tabs, I saw that they had a few very strange time signatures, but I haven't seen any more evidence of progginess yet.

Got their latest album, Organic. Some pretty catchy and humorous songs. Love their sound. The guitar solos are awesome, though they mostly sound like a lot of silly w**king at first. Some progginess, but not really prog. Yet, looking at some of the stuff that's labeled prog here, I wouldn't mind having FK in there as well.
