ok first the similarities -  no anoying audience laughing or laughing box,
 
flashbacks from a persion point of view, Dorian in Scrubs and Malcolm in yeah you know.
 
both series are In my point of view hilarous, madness, vitty caracters, and quite innovative
 
so pick your favourite, my favourite will always be Scrubs but Malcolm in the Middle is also a stroke of genieus, but Scrubs is a masterwork.

both shows also balances out the comedy with drama, you laugh out loud but in the same episode you feel sad, angery, scared and many other emotions during an episode or season, but mostly you Roll on your floor laughing your ass off while spitting diet coke all over the floor.

Sorry about the music, I didn't make the video
 
I never understood Malcolm in the Middle.  There were no hot chicks, the mother was a boar, and all the other characters seemed to be just drifting through the show looking for viewer sympathy.  Malcolm was even somehow more of a whiney little girl than Zack Braff's character on Scrubs.

I haven't seen enough Malcolm to judge, but I think I prefer Scrubs style just a bit more. Both are epically hilarious though.

I actually liked both, (despite originally thinking I wouldn't like either) but I say Scrubs.
Malcolm was a "better" show but Scrubs is just funnier. Has its drawbacks but so did Malcolm.

They're both good but Scrubs-obsessed (annoying) people whilst I was at University put me off. I marginally prefer Malcolm in the Middle anyway.
