I am sad to announce to you today that the official Genesis site is shutting down soon. UltraStar which is the host for the website along with the band and thier management have decided to close the site soon. When that will be is unkown at this time.

I will get more on this when it comes to hand

I still dream to someday see this band live. Hope this doesn't mean it will stay as a dream...

what the f?

why? Is Genesis through? The brand still sells plenty of albums I'm sure, even if the band was defunct itself. I'm sure lots of dead/ good as dead artists still have profitable sites.

About time! I didn't like that site at all. You had to pay just to acces the forum, to name one thing. Also you'd rarely get straight answers to questions asked. A lot a nonsence babble. And those who was critical and didn't follow the stream was badly treated and the admins was non-objective about it. The discographie was dreadfull and the whole site was just about selling, selling, selling, plus many other bad things about that site. There are several other sites, WAY better then the official, I suggest those instead, just google to find them.

Ps. I don't think this has ANYTHING to do with Genesis as a band in any way. All about that is at it's always has been and will stay that way. I also think we will see more concerts in the future, even a reunion and more albums of some kind. Plus that anyone, anytime can start a good un-official website ( I haven't got the knowledge), they are almost always better anyhow, as they're fan-based, more comprehansive, etc.

I agree with the comments about their website being rather poor.  Last time I ever checked it was when they released the 1970-75 boxset.  The site seemed like a lot of flash with no substance.

Maybe they noticed that an "official" site no more "productive" than fan sites and all other internet "info" gold mines

That was my experience of the site, the few times I bothered to visit. The Genesis page on progarchives is a more user friendly, and informative website in it's own right.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
