So last night I was setting my alarm clock and when I checked the
volume there was a very low cello note playing. For about 2-3 seconds I
stood there trying to remember where I'd heard that before. I then
realized that it was a Godspeed You! Black Emperor song. I listened to
the whole intro of Moya (it stopped when the drums kicked in I think).
I couldnt believe what I just heard!
Thank you Radio-Canada! ![]() |

Wow, you guys oviously have much better radio up there than us state-siders. I can't imagine ever hearing GYBE on the airwaves here! There used to be a good station around here (105.9 out of Janesville, Wisconsin) that played pretty much anything and everything in the prog vein without worrying about track lengths or sponsors or things of that nature. I'll never forget hearing them play the entire 23 minutes of Pink Floyd's Echoes (something I had never heard a radio station do and haven't heard since). Unfortunately, the current state of the music industry eventually caught up with the station, and they changed formats to hip-hop and Top 40

We've got some great stations up here, Q107 plays great stuff, and not
just the hits. They played Echoes by Pink Floyd once, which ive never
heard on any station before. CJSW 90.9 is also realyl great. It's a
college station and they play a huge assortment of literally unknown
bands, you can hear some mind blowing music on that channel.

On Radio-Canada (in Québec), there is some show in the night whith pretty good/weird music. Post Rock, Jazz, Electronic (non-pop), and those kind of things. I never listen to the radio, but I got them a couple of times (by accident I guess). Unfortunatly, just a couple of times.

My local radio staion has a 4 hour block sunday nights of lesser known bands from 9 to 12. They played a few songs from the new TMV album, not much else that was very good. |

In holland we have Arrow Rock Radio, it has a weekly special of
progressive rock (usually boring, but sometimes they play the
interesting stuff) and they play a lot of classic rock, including some
Yes Pink Floyd, Rush, and other big prog acts.
At night they play the best songs (all of Echoes, occasional Awaken, CTTE or other long songs) Sometimes I actually enjoy radio ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunatly only the well known songs are played, so now big surprises ![]() |

Are all you guys serious!?!?! (Tony, Tuxon). I thought I was lucky because I heard Yours Is No Disgrace- once. American radio sucks. Even the "classic rock" stations. |

Both Radio-Canada and Q107 (Toronto and Calgary variety) play some
fantabulous music, although you'll never hear GYBE on the latter....
Many university stations have 'prog hours' and the like ![]() |

In Finland we only have one radio program that plays good music and that is "Avaruusromua" (Space Junk in English). It only lasts about an hour every sunday evening but it's worth it. They play a lot of electronic, avant garde, experimental ect. TD, Schulze, Eno, Amon Tobin etc. and loads of unknown bands.. Great stuff.
But other than that , radio: ![]() Edited by Logos |
