Rather recently I found myself in the position discussing DT with a DT hardcore fan... Damn it got ugly when I mention the "myth" about them ripping off whole riffs from metallica ( In mere curiosity, becasue I have never got any profe)

So, according to prevoius topics here, on which the answers may lie (but I'm to lazy to trace them down) these ripp-offs exists...if they do please give me a few examples to strengthen my postion in this debate...

"Oh, yes, sitting-the great leveler. From the mightiest pharaoh to the lowliest peasant, who doesn't enjoy a good sit?"

Let me answer to you a bit:

DT were heavily influenced by Metallica on the Metal side of their sound and played Master of Puppets album live a couple of times, but never ripped Metallica off.

Yes I have seen their "Master Of Metallica" . however i cant see the similarites between them nor can i honeslty say i thought "this band is influenced by metallica" first time I heard them, yet I have seen many around state these ripp-off exists, althoug they have never proved it...for now i'll just have to take your words for truth...aslongs as nobody else says otherwise.

Dream Theater were heavily influenced by Metallica. So obviously some riffs might sound similar, but I've yet to hear one that is totally ripp off note for note. Certif1ied always go on about them and says like "the main riff from And Justice For All", which doesn't explain much as theres loads of riffs in that song... So my view is that DT may have similar riffs, but haven't nicked any totally note-for-note.

Bilden “http://www.ytsejamrecords.com/ProductCart/pc/catalog//mop-lrg.jpg” kan inte visas, då den innehåller fel.

Which bands haven´t been influenced by other bands. This is DTs tribute to Medullica.
