Both very important bands in the rock and roll world exhibiting hints of Progressiveness. Each with many well known songs. Similar yet different, both bands created some fantastic music with outstanding harmonies, truly the best out there for their time.

This is a far more interesting contest than Queen vs. Pink Floyd. I vote for Queen, but Styx have their fine moments too.

Given the two choices I have to go with Queen, even though I'm not a big fan. I like some of their songs, like "The Show Must Go On", "Radio Ga Ga" because they hold some nostalgia for me hearing them when I was younger. But I can die happy if I never hear "We Will Rock You" ever again.

I went with Queen. I have seen both bands live and Queen was a far better show. Freddy was one of the top singers and well as frontmen.

Queen for me. They were the first band i went into and to date i still listent to (but not so often), some years later i went with bands like ELO, Alan Parsons and Styx, but none of them were so important to me like Queen.

It seems it partly depends on the country you are living in.
Perhaps Styx are big in States.
In Russia Queen still are rock gods, while Styx is one of the second division bands.

Voted for Queen of course.

I really don't like Queen.

Styx was important for my musical development early on. Don't listen to them really anymore, but they're still good at times.

Queen by several miles. They were the band with a lot more than a hint of progressiveness in their songs.

Styx is one of those rare bands I really, really can't stand. No reason for it, it's completely irrational, but I just hate them.

Queen is the better band, so I voted for them, but I actually prefer to listen to Styx.  I saw them both in concert around the same time - late 70s, early 80s, and both put on good shows.  Queen's was more of a spectacle, though, and I think had stronger stage presence.  One thing I didn't like about them was at the end of the show and Brian May smashed his guitar - not like Blackmore did by throwing it all over the place, or like Pete Townsend.  No, it was more a matter of course.  "Ho-hum, now it's time to wreck the guitar."  It was passionless.  At the Styx show, there was one guy who kept asking the band what time it was.  He was clearly requesting Midnight Ride, but my buddy kept looking at his watch and giving the guy the actual time.  I still laugh at that one.  LOL

Styx.
Had been listening to music for a couple of years, but had never been floored by an album. When I went in to a shop and they played Equinox,it felt amazing, instant love for an album that I played daily for alooong time.Soon after came Leftoverture and it was a double whammy.
Like Queen also. Both bands got great great songs, and also a lot of sh*te.
