On 9-9-2009  the entire Beatles Catalogue will be released in  new reamasterd editions. What will you do? If you are like me and already have the entire catalogue will you buy the lot again remastered or say the ones I have are good enough.

Also the real burning issue for me is this on the same day 2 Box Sets are released one is entirely in stereo including the early albums that have never been available in that format but the other one which I have the hots for is the other box set which is released in their mono format which is how I heard them as a kid. My first album I ever bought when I was 9 years old was Help in mono so nostalgia for meWink.

Anway here is a link on the odd chance you don't know   Matt

Curious.  I'd say I probably wouldn't purchase these, unless the price was so nice that I couldn't resist, although I would be curious to hear them.

Yeah, I'm a big time Beatles fan, and the albums have needed this for a long time. The whole voices in one ear, all instruments in the other has really been annoying me lately. Let's hope the albums are properly mixed this time.

Myabe now the CDs will sound just as full and rich as the vinyls do. In my opinion, they weren't properly taken care of the first time 'round.

Thank you so much for this post; I am very happy now. Smile

^ But this time they will actually be worth the price, and no longer sound like some kid mixed them in his basement.

I'm looking forward to these.  I'll probably buy a couple, say Rubber Soul and Revolver, to see if they are that much better than the current ones, at which point I will either shell out for the works or just let it be.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

We have been waiting for these remasters for years, some members of the press have given very positive reviews for sound quality, the remastering project has been ongiong for the last 4 years, they are already being listed on Amazon for pre-order.

I will start by getting Revolver and see what they've done to it. If it's a significant improvement I will also get Sgt Pepper, The Beatles, Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road.
Interesting to hear about the mono releases. I would generally avoid these as I love the stereo separation on the Beatles records but most Beatles albums were originally mixed in mono. There are differences in some of the mono mixes, particularly on Sgt Pepper and The Beatles.

I have no idea what the differences between the stereo and mono mixes would be but I'm definitely shelling out the dough. I burned copies off of my friend's Beatles CDs a long time ago because his mom is English so she had all the proper versions of the albums, so now I have an excuse to buy my own copies.

Well, apart from the obvious there are slight differences in some songs, such as the fiddle playing in "Dont pass me by". Also some tracks are speeded up and slowed down (possibly She's Leaving Home). It's all a bit anal to be honest but check out The Beatles Anomalies if you're really interested.

certain things are sped up faster, also on the Sgt. Peppere record certain sound effects are completely absent.

I've been waiting for these remasters for years. The ones from the 80's sound really bad and a band like The Beatles deserve to sound a lot better than that to fully apreciate their music. The only thing is that this boxset will be really expensive, at least in my country :( but I'm definitely thinking of getting it.

It's not clear if the stereo albums have been remixed or only remastered. I hope they remixed all of the albums previous to the White album cos the stereo versions sounded a bit empty and a lot of effects were missing especially in Revolver and Sgt Pepper's, cos all those albums were mixed in mono in the original versions.

I'll see how much the stereo boxset is, that will be the deciding factor

^I might reconsider if the proceeds were going for the benefit of Mr. Kite.

I'm going to hold out for the next round, which you know will inevitably have Steven Wilson surround sound remixed versions. LOL
Particularly looking forward to the surround sound remixes of the mono original mixes.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
