I'm very curious about this. Spock's Beard is one of my favorite modern prog bands. I own The Light and Beware of Darkness. The Light is one of the best albums made in the last 10 years IMO, and Beware of Darkness is absolutely incredible. Let me know your opinion. |

Snow is thier most consistent. Very few, if any filler tracks! A superb album & the one I would recommend!

I have 'em all. I think V is best and it's the only one I have that's is autographed by Neal Morse. Day for Night gets a lot of spin time in my CD player. Gibberish, Distance to the Sun and the Healing Color of Sound are great tunes.

Snow is a Tour de Force. 'V' doesn't do it for me for whatever
reason. Snow is a story of transformation and the music is
inspired. It doesn't get much better than that these days.
And no I'm not coming from a Christian perspective.

While I do believe Snow is their most intriuging and diverse album, I
find myself going to "V" more often, mostly because of the two epics,
"At the End of the Day" and "The Great Nothing." The Light is also
really good but it is apparent that an amatuer prog band (at the time!)
had performed it. Plus, "The Water" never really did anything for me.

I fall somewhere between Beware of Darkness and The Kindness of Strangers. Although I truly do like everything they have done to date. I was thinking recently... so many comparisons have been made to Spock's Beard and Genesis, because of the Morse departure and the drummer taking over vocal duties... among other things... and it saddened me... because... unlike Genesis... Spock's Beard will probably never go on to find the success Genesis did with Collins. Some might find this a blessing, but I just wish a band of their caliber could make some decent bread. They need to have other sources of income to maintain a comfortable living... Alan Morse is actually my friends boss... |
