Ok, the basic idea here is to identify the greatest Zappa album from each decade then to take the winners and pit them against each other in a final mind boggling, mustache twirling battle royal. Each poll will include both studio and live releases and there will be five polls: "the 60s", "the 70s", "the 80s", "the 90s (including posthumous)", and "the 2000s (all posthumous)". Any excuse for more Zappa in the forums, I say! Hot Rats took "the 60s", while "the 70s" went to the One Size Fits All, and "the 80s" AND "the 90s" went to You Are What You Is and Läther respectively in stunning back to back run off elections. This week you will pass judgement on "the 2000s (all posthumous)". Once again, you will be granted a weeks worth of seconds, minutes, hours, and days to decide.
This is a little more difficult so I hope your collection is up to date.
Results:
"the 60s": Hot Rats (1969)
"the 70s": One Size Fits All (1975)
"the 80s": You Are What You Is (1981)
"the 90s (including posthumous)": Läther (1996)
Attention: I originally left The Making Of Freak Out! Project/Object out and can't add it in with an edit so if you would like to vote for this album it is a WRITE IN candidate! Great googly moogly! Edited by manofmystery - January 07 2009 at 01:47 |

Though I'd like to spark some life into this thread, I haven't heard any of Zappa's material after his final tour...

Got them all except for Joe's Menage, but my vote goes to Buffalo. Great band at that time, good songs and the sound is surprisingly good.

I agree with all the poll winners so far, but this one is tough. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the recent releases. I have to give a slight edge to 'One Shot Deal' because of that insane 'Trudging Across the Tundra". Wazoo is pretty special too.

Hope that Lumpy Money arrives sooner rather than later. Let's also hope Dweezil has the good sense to restore Ruben & The Jets to its original state.

I think there is one day left and therfore it must be true! Someone buy these albums then break this sad tie. MOFO also has 2 votes just to avoid confusion Edited by manofmystery - January 12 2009 at 22:37 |
