Thanks all PA members I've got a senior member. I've been a progressive rock fan for several years and ProgArchives could suggest me many kinds of progressive rock genres and bands. Under that reason, I consider my feedback for PA can be my duty. Necessary to re-listen to an album enough well for writing a review, then I always feel that I can re-find the greatness and identity of the album. Hope you all and I will enjoy PA together FOREVER! |

Hi Damo,
Nice to see you are enjoying being here and writing reviews, PA is a site i loved at first sight and a place where i can relax and learn everyday about my favourite genre, and because of the members here, i can discover and appreciate new bands or some hidden gems.
I personally enjoy a lot writing my reviews, though i dont do it as often as i used to, i love it when i have time, reviews are one of the best things this site have, there we can appreciate the different points of view of people from all the world.

Hi Damo keep up the good work man. Your so right when you say you learn more about an album when you review it.

Thanks memowakeman and sinkadotentree, the Experts!
I'm very glad I can write more reviews and everyone here can read and understand them...
BTW, which do you think better, bein' a general progger or bein' a specialist?

If my opinion counts - seek out as many varieties as possible. Furthermore; indulge in some non-prog material from time to time too (reviews of that stuff you can publish at www.rateyourmusic for instance). Start out easy by choosing one in five as a choice in unknown musical/prog territories perhaps?
Overindulging in one particular brand or style of music may often lead to one tiring of that after a while; but when covering more ground you'll appreciate what you like even more, in time your appreciation of other styles will grow - and listening to varied forms of music will also help in finding words, phrases and descriptions of the music you enjoy most. I would also suggest reviewing some of the releases from the BIG list of unreviewed albums from time to time: http://www.progarchives.com/UnreviewedAlbums.asp |

I read a few of your reviews and have to say that you have an accurate grasp of the music. I've written a few dumb reviews since started here ( only a few If it means anything here's my advice with reviews.
I think the most important part is not to force yourself to write a review. Before writing reviews here I really didn't do much writing ( I was a math major in university ) and have learned a lot about myself and music through this review writing thing. In the beginning I found that sometimes I would write a review just for the sake of it and that's when things would go awry. fortunately I've gone back and corrected some of them but have left a few as they were just to remind myself of my mistakes. I have also found that not every review that I have written has turned out as I had intended, but some have suprised me after re-reading them a few days later and I say to myself : Did I really write that?I've also had the opportunity to write various band bios here which is something that I never thought I could do.
Skimming through the internet on various other sites from blogspots to youtube I've seen the stuff I've written being ripped off. At first it bugged me but now i just shrug it off and say to myself that's the problem of the guy who copied something that came from MY heart.
I just want to offer my words of encouragement. Keep going at it you're only going to get better. I'm going to go back and read all your reviews. They're a lot of fun to read.

I have been doing more reviews recently but I would like someone to show me some writing techinques since I am not from an English speaking country and it's been some time since I last took some English lessons. That would be really helpful.

Nice job keeping the site going!
![]() FYI: I tried writing one review every day, but trust me after a while, it gets hard. So now I write as many as I can when I have time. |

Thanks Windhawk for your input.
Certainly I can many kinds of music and should try to make a feedback for other music freaks.
But I'm shamed I've not heard lots of the unreviewed albums you suggested...
I say to myself let's try them! Okay?

Very glad! Thanks Vibrationbaby.
Always I listen to albums and try to write reviews as soon as possible.
Because I consider my feeling and impression at that moment is very important.
Certainly, as you say, I've not written so much and sometimes feel embarrassed by reading my previous reviews.
But I think it's okay my mistakes of previous reviews are my real impression just at that time.
![]() Please give me advices in the future.

Thanks progrocker.
Exactly I feel it's a bit hard to write everyday, but at the same time I feel very happy and pleasant.
Of course, I wrote today.

Nice. No reason to apologize for not being aware of the plethora of releases on the unreviewed album list. Personally I may know about one out of 100 on that list - and most of the members here will struggle hard to find artists/releases they've heard about on that rather large list. For being an underground genre, prog is a highly prolific one *laughs* |

Absolutely, "prolific" is my thought too.
There're a few or more albums I know...but I found that one of my favourite albums has no review, unexpectedly.
Sooner I'll try to write.

In this case, unreviewed=unrated? Or does it show albums with no reviews just ratings? Edited by Diaby - January 02 2009 at 08:00 |

I haven't checked - but THINK they are unrated as well as unreviewed.
