 Topic: How do you get special characters?

I've noticed that alot of you use special characters (ie, the "e" with an accent, the icelandic "p" thing, etc.) in your posts. How do you get them form a standered keyboard? I know you can get some (upside-down question mark) by alt 168 i believe. Is there a site where i can find this information?

You could always do it the LONG way: Insert Symbol in MS Word, copy and paste...depends how much you want them I guess! Aside from that, I personally don't know sorry.

There's more than one way to skin a cat:
METHOD A (Win XP):
start | Control Panel | Regional and language options
Click on Languages tab
Click on Details button
Click on Add button under Installed Services to add a keyboard
Language code (two chars) will be displayed in System Notification Area. To change mapping either click on it or press ALT+Shift to toggle through languages.
If you have a US keyboard on your PC then you'll need to learn the key presses (e.g. on a UK keyboard the key next to the P is [ (and { shifted). If you select, say, PT (Portuguese) and then press the [ key followed by the E key you get é on the screen. With, say, PT selected, if you press the ; key you get ç on the screen. Of course, if you buy a foreign keyboard and plug it into your PC then you don't have to remember the mapping 'cause the characters and accents are printed on the keys.
METHOD B (Win XP):
start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Character Map
Select the character you want, click Select button and Copy button, and then paste into your document, window, etc.

Well, our keyboards have the symbols used in our language: I don't need to do anything special to type our Spanish ñ letter (only to hit the ñ key).
There is another method:
1- Hold down the Alt key (and keep it down)
2- Using the numeric keys on the right of the keyboard (not the ones on the top row) dial a three digit code (try 164, for example)
3- Release the Alt key and... voilà
There was a way to get a list of the symbols assigned to each code, but I don't remember it...
