not that this has anything to do with anything, but I really hate how the mellotron has become an idolized symbol of progressive rock.

you're prettty competent with your stuff though! unfortunately mechanical comes to mind when listening to it, just my critique.

Thanks for the gift Mike! There's nothing like sitting in the middle of a mellotron storm.

Thanks for the kind comments all round.

I'm sorry DJPuffy doesn't care for the Mellotron being 'centre stage' in Prog Rock, but if it makes any difference I'm not that thrilled by 95% of what passes for that genre anyway, most of which I find quite ham-fisted. However, I do realise that a lot of fans of that type of music like the sound of the Mellotron and just thought that it may be nice to hear iot within the context of playing established 'classics' as opposed to being a background wash of block chords, etc.

Yeah good job with being experimental in how you make music, but it doesn't really sound to me as though the instrument translates well to classical music.

Well, fair enough - I think that Barber sounds pretty good this way at least, but it's all a matter of taste. You ought to have heard some of the things that I left on the floor. Fanfare for the Common Man actually made me laugh out loud when I heard it!!
