Nah, Firefox works just fine for me, no incentive to try something new at this time.  Haven't heard that Chrome has any new features that I can get excited about, and indeed I'm not sure if they have an equivalent to Adblock (correct me if I'm wrong) - that would be a non-starter right there.

^ yeah right ... Google make their money from advertising, I don't think they would ever build a browser which blocks ads.LOL

Actually, the original EULA had this in it- what you are talking about above. I agree to let google use all anything everything about my web browsing habits blah, blah blah. Well, not exactly that wording, but just as harsh. There was a minor uproar over this, so it was removed. I installed it after the beta was released on Tuesday. I like the interface- straight forward and to the point. Not my main browser though- I use Opera because of the email client built into it. Google Chrome is built to run web apps better, with it's V8 java engine. But it is still mainly a collection of other open source engines- borrows a lot from firefox and safari. I keep as many browsers as I can for testing out web design. Needless to say the only one so far that doesn't obey the W3C standards is IE.

Well, I can't surf any other way, although I don't seem to mind the little ads in the gmail interface - guess I just block those out mentally.  Wink

Firefox 3.1 will be released later this year ... it also comes with a new javascript engine which should run web apps much faster. Good for my website, which uses javascript extensively.Big%20smile

The one cool thing about it is that it runs each tab as an independent application of the other tabs, so if one tab crashes you don't lose your whole window like you do with Firefox.  But that's a pretty minor feature and I don't crash Firefox very often, so it's not really a big deal.

Another excellent feature is that as you type an address into the address bar it will use google's comprehensive database to auto fill the address with a list of likely sites- not just the sites you have visited, as the rest of the browsers do. This is a good thing.

The thing I like the most about it is that there is no clutter in the toolbar section- lean, mean and straight to the point. After all, a browser should be just the least intrusive window to the web. This may turn a lot of people off, but for me, it's a winner. I don't want to see gadgets poking me in the face and taking up space, when all I want to do with a browser is visit web sites.

I like it a lot and considering my computer is getting worse and worse at running things (I think this computer is almost 7/8 years old) the running tabs separately things does wonders for my computer, considering that my lack of high tech seems to make things crash a lot.

I see what you are saying but the only time that I have had my Firefox crash is when I lose DSL. Which is at least one time during a session. I need to upgrade to a more reliable ISP.

I just installed Chrome to see if it uses less resources than Firefox, which is getting almost unsable on my old computer. Well, it doesn't (mostly it uses the same amount of memory more or less), but it does appear to move a little faster so I'd be willing to give it a longer try if I can use dome sort of ad-blocker... My question is, does it have such an option?

Go to the little wrench in the top right corner, should be an option "Extensions".  From there you can browse and find adblock.

I have yet to use Chrome except experimentally.  I'm still pretty happy with Firefox and IE.  Something about Chrome when I first tried it made me go "eh? do I really need another browser?"

So, any Chrome fans want to go into detail on what features they like about it and if I should switch?  I'm open minded.  I think once you become comfortable with one you aren't inclined to switch unless an alternative does something that makes you go wow. LOL

You know as far as freebie media players go, I'm pretty much settled on Windows Media Player and the Zune one as I have a Zune player.  I know we have a thread already dedicated to that subject.  But to stay off topic for a moment.  I've tried Winamp and Realplayer, but they never caught on.
