In mid-july, I have the citizenship test. About how much does it take between the citizenship test and the ceremony/oath of citizenship? I have the problem that in less than a week from the interview/test, I have very important out of town plans for 4-5 days.

I hear it can be done in the same day as the interview, is that true? it would be great if it's true.

You gotta know South Park to get that.

Best of luck with the test.

Typically the ceremony is scheduled after you complete the test, usually several weeks after.  The ceremony is conducted by a judge at a courthouse and there are many people from many countries.  I have been to three of these (including my wife's citizenship ceremony), and they are quite moving.   In any case you should have plenty of time for your out-of-town trip between the test and the ceremony.

Good luck on the test and welcome aboard in advance!

As a native born American citizen, I do have to wonder sometimes, what the hell is wrong with you people?  But a very big welcome to you when you get here.  You really are improving the caliber of people living here. Big%20smile  We shall overcome the shiftheads someday!

You know you're not helping your cause by hanging out in a liberal hotbed like this place.  I'm sure your name
is on file somewhere and your many posts will be reviewed carefully when your application lands on an INS
desk.  Good luck .

That's what I keep teasing Raffa about!   And you want to come here........why exactly???    Italy is SO gorgeous (I know because I keep watching Rick Steves on PBSLOL)  whereas America is mostly one big strip mall parking  lot.

But I know there are practical reasons like the economy and jobs.....no wait, that sucks here too!!

Just teasing you all, it ain't so bad here.  We do have good National Parks and lots of fast food.  And in Raffa's case there is a young gentleman to sweeten the dealBig%20smile

The American Dream. Smile

Yer going to live in Oregon or something, right? Good show, I think the Pacific Northwest would be the best bet for escaping idiocy.

I was being semi-sarcastic. I don't think The American Dream even really applies anymore.

And I thought I heard something about Oregon or another one of those states? oh well, no big deal.

If it had been the UK, Finland, or somewhere else, it would have been the same. Unfortunately, most European countries practice ageism, and at my age I would have very few chances of finding another job anywhere else (here it would be impossible). If going somewhere else in Europe had been a viable option, rest assured I would have.

So what department at Wal-Mart do you plan on working at? Wink

What holds you here? Pack your things and leave. Just don't rush to renounce your US citizenship. It may come handy when you're back

Nonsense. Do you really think the big brother is watching? Is it really true the INS doesn't let people with liberal leanings in? They used to let in people wth terrorist leanings.
