Sprogfest, Frome, Somerset UK, May 25th.

Want to see original, energetic and fresh music from some of the UK’s best progressive rock bands. On Bank Holiday Sunday 25th May Frome’s Cheese and Grain will be hosting the second Somerset Progressive Rock Festival – Sprog Fest 08.

We’re very fortunate to have the wonderful SOLSTICE headline this year’s event. Described as having ‘soaring violin and guitar weaving around delicately passionate female vocals, underpinned by driving rhythmic complexity’ Solstice have regularly enthralled audiences at all the major festivals and sell-out tours and have drawn comparisons to Genesis, Camel and Mostly Autumn.

2nd on the bill are the Welsh band EZRA who will be promoting their 3rd album ‘Songs From Pennsylvania’ which draws references from both Pink Floyd and Yes. Next up we’re pleased to welcome back Crimson Sky from Bristol who, after a lineup change, have become a tighter more metallic unit that play hard progressive rock with pop sensibilities, all unpinned by dynamic bass lines.

Kicking off the event will be 2 bands from opposite ends of the country, Gothic Chicken from Weymouth and The Fast Camels from Glasgow, both of whom will ensure that the musical bar is set high. Doors are at 4pm, with the first band on at 4.45pm, food and good local beer will be served throughout.
