Topic: One hit prog wonders? Posted: April 02 2005 at 17:41 |
This whole concept is from the pop industry i know, but sure there´s got to be somekind of one hit wonders around here, or better up one hit album wonders, by a otherwise crappy band?

We've got plenty of no-hit songs/albums in the genre... does that count?

Actually Änglagĺrd was the closest call for me, i hope you mean albums not a specific song, and yet there is no similarites to the One Hit Wonder cultur in pop a was refering to, a good sign tough making music for the sake of music instead money

One hit wonder? Try Yes with 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'. That's the only song I've ever heard on the radio, and it plays constantly.
But we all know they're better than that, so let's try... Styx with Come Sail Away.

if you want to know prog albums having 1 pop hit , then comes to mind:
rush - closer to the heart
kansas - dust in the wind
genesis - follow you follow me
if you want to know any type of albums having 1 prog breakthrough , then comes to mind:
al stewart - the year of the cat
yes - cinema
eLP - canario

Well, for me, I consider Tool to be a one hit album wonder with Lateralus.

Heh, that's just you. A lot of people think Aenima as a masterpiece
(that includes me) and Undertow get's respect too (I actually know
people who only like Undertow from Tool albums).

Although Hybris stands out, epilog is far from a none-worthy successor

Presto Ballet - Peace among the Ruins, one of the greatest prog rock albums ever IMO, that is side project of guitarist from Metal Church, band that I don't like very much
