I've been a longtime fan of prog (i'm 45) and thanks to PA i've discovered a plethora of bands i've never heard of before, mainly Magma,Spock's beard,Focus etc. Have you made some extraordinary discoveries yourselves? Name your 3 best.

My top three would be:
Van Der Graaf Generator. Without PA I probably would have heard them but never would have sufficient time or resources to research them...PA fixed that and offered a mp3 of "The Sleepwalkers" which took a few listens but eventually I was hooked. Still am. Genesis. I thought they were a pop band. Was proved otherwise. To great advantage. Radiohead. A friend mentioned them to me and I would have passed them off as some punk or alternative band but I had remembered seeing their name on this website. Therefore I researched them and found a goldmine. |

Actually. Scratch Radiohead and add Gentle Giant. I would have found out about Radiohead.

My latest was Quidam. They had one of the higher ranked albums from 2007 and I noticed them when I looked at the list. Bought it and really like it.

Wow, there are far more than three that were great for me. But I'll try
Comus
Hamonium
Nil
I should give an honorable mention to the site for causing me to reevaluate Porcupine Tree. I've been on something of a PTree binge for a couple months now. I first heard them back in 1999 and saw them live in 2001 and just wasn't impressed or interested. All the praise they get on this site was getting on my nerves

Arcturus - I'd have been turned off by the metal epithet without the samples
Il Balletto Di Bronzo and The Mahavishnu Orchestra are a few that I doubt I'd have encountered without PA. |

Bootcut, Nemo and Azureth - there are others, but those I would've found without PA as well, given that they are pretty big names in Prog.

PFM
King Crimson Spock's Beard Although they're all big names, I wouldn't have discovered them without PA. That's the best part with being relatively new in the prog world: an endless amount of discoveries, without having to dig deep for those lesser known gems. |

I found ProgArchives in a very early state of mine... So I discovered a lot of band, msot recent of which must be Arena. But, as the top three, I could easily pick up Caravan and Camel. In fact through these I found my way to fusion and Canterbury scene which both have become my personal favourites. Oh, yes, and then the third. Absolutely The Flower Kings. I listened to their sample, bought one record, and now I try not to miss anything the release!

Definitely, Los Jaivas.
It was not love at first sight, but it seems it's love till the rest of my life.
![]() I don't think I could "meet" this wonderful Chilean band without PA. Thanks to all who reviewed "Alturas de Macchu Picchu" CD and DVD, you helped me to find music I was searching for.

Can't really limit it to 3, but I'll try to limit it as possible:
Nemo, U Totem, Nimal, Le Silo, Panzerpappa, Olive Mess, Guapo, Far Corner, French TV, Begnagrad, Naikaku, Maldoror, Cerebus Effect, Bubu, Nil, Taal, Amagrama, Arachnoid, Bacamarte, MIA, Novalis, Oaksenham, White Willow, William Gray and many many others....
Viva PA!
