There was quite a good thread on this lot on Progressive Ears a while back, but I've seen them mentioned here too so I thought I should start a new thread on them here. They are usually held up as one of the earliest post-punk acts, and were fronted by former Buzzcocks member Howard Devoto.

Only really discovered them last year after getting some best-of and it really blew me away. Musically, they sound like a cross between David Bowie circa 'Low' and early Roxy Music, and, dare I say it, a few prog touches due to the expansive (and excellent!) keyboard playing of Dave Formula- which got them into hot water with certain members of the music press at the time- but they definitely have a clear sound of their own.

If there's an album I think prog fans should check out from the post-punk era, if you haven't already, it's 'Secondhand Daylight', which is a terrific album, especially the tracks 'Feed The Enemy', the almost-suite like 'The Thin Air'/'Back To Nature' and the chilling, bleak 'Permafrost'. 'Real Life' is brilliant too- 'Motorcade' and 'Parade' are particular favourites. I have 'The Correct Use Of Soap' but haven't played it yet.

Any more fans here?

Yes, a great band, especially Secondhand Daylight and agreed there are quite a few Prog touches to their music too.
