Of these bands, and an artist, it's a tough call for me between Art Bears and Art Zoyd, both I love.  I also like Arti e Mestieri considerably, and would like to know some of the others.  I'm tempted to go with one of the "dark arts", Art Zoyd.

Was originally going to limit it to Art Bears, Art Zoyd, and Art Garfunkel, but decided to open it up to more arts and more names beginning with the letters art.

Arti E Mestieri sounds very promising, my girlfriend has one album from them and I really should listen to it more. Haven't heard the other ones, excepth maybe some Garfunkel sometimes.

Paul Simon's partner for me as well.  Don't know any of the others either.

Laplace should be thrilled to see the Art Bears included in a poll. Clap

A high quality poll. Art Bears and Art Zoyd are both faves of mine.

Art Fleury, Arti e Mesiteri and Artcane are great too. Got nothing against Art Garfunkel either.

I'm sorry to say I detest Art Zoyd (after hearing "Musique Pour l'Odyssey"), and besides Garfunkel I haven't listened to the other options.... so my choice is Art Garfunkel, that is, when he was still with Simon, of course.

As rushfan guessed, I voted for Art Bears. but the last "Art" album I listened to was Art Zoyd's "Haexan", or however you're expected to transliterate it when you're too lazy to search character map for diareses. o:)

I'm still interested in hearing Art Fleury.

The Sound of Silence, oops , er..... Arti + Mestieri's Furio Chirico on drums is all one needs to get the heartbeat going.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Art Bears, just ahead of Art Zoyd and Arti i Mesteri.

Nice to see so much love for Art Garfunkel - 'Briiiiiggghhhhttttt eyes, burning like something....' - it's pretty clear he was the real driving force in Simon and Grafunkel, and one can only admire his generosity to that shortarse whose only contributions were playing the guitar, writing and arranging the songs and singing quite a few of the lead vocals Wink
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

I love Simon & Garfunkels' music, but would definitely choose ARThur Brown (Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Arthur Brown Band) over Art G. as I enjoy Garfunkel's singing but was not that impressed with his solo stuff.

Like them or not, it's definitely worth checking out Art Bears, Art Zoyd, and Arte e Mestieri (I want to hear Art Fleury and Artcane).

Here are links to the PA band pages for those who are unfamiliar with these choices, and oops, I did this hurriedly and missed putting in Art and Illusion from Italy (hmm, sounds a bit too AORish for my Eclectic ear), and that Om Art poll option should have read Om Art Formation::

ART AND ILLUSION Eclectic Prog Italy
ART BEARS RIO/Avant-Prog United Kingdom
ART FLEURY RIO/Avant-Prog Italy
ART IN AMERICA Symphonic Prog United States
ART OF SIMPLICITY Progressive Metal Greece
ART ZOYD RIO/Avant-Prog France
ARTCANE Eclectic Prog France
ARTCELL Tech/Extreme Prog Metal Bangladesh
ARTENSION Progressive Metal Multi-National
ARTI E MESTIERI Jazz Rock/Fusion Italy
ARTSRUNI Prog Folk Armenia
OM ART FORMATION Prog Related Bulgaria

Zargus, since you're a fan of Canterbury Scene, you might consider checking out Art Bears because it has a connection (okay, so does a helluva lot).. It's an offshoot of Henry Cow, and Henry Cow is sometimes tagged as a Canterbury band (the first HC is quite Canterbury).  Henry Cow, Slapp Happy, and Art Bears do partially appeal to my quirky Canterbury side (I am a big fan of Canterbury, and I like the much of the more avant Canterbury and the simpler more melodic yet quirky stuff).
