Most of you might have heard of the art-rock/prog-pop band 10cc. But did any of you follow the duo Kevin Godley & Lol Creme after they left in the mid 70s. The 3 albums Consequences, L, and Freeeze Frame must be considered prog masterpieces, at least the two latest. Kind of smart-ass pop with lots of influences from Zappa. I will without doubt tag this (if a tag is interesting) as prog rock.
What about a track like 'Foreign Accents' f.i.? The craziest odd meter circus number you'll ever hear. These guys are (were) great. Don't quite know what they've been up to lately, they were great video producers in the 80s.)

I always preferred the Godley & Creme songs over the Goldman & Stewart ones in 10cc, so after the spilt I followed Godley and Creme rather than 10cc. Consequences will always be one of my all time favourite albums - the concept alone was unusual, the way it was recorded was innovative and the music ranged from the sublime to the astonishing (though some of the songs were a little weak) - when it works (sides 1, 2 and 6 of the LP release) it is a Prog masterpiece. With the albums they made after Consequences they showed that they had a gift for intelligent Art Rock songs, interspersing weird off-kilter songs (Art School Canteen, Foreign Accents, I Pity Inanimate Objects, The Party) between more socially acceptable tracks (Wedding Bells, Under Your Thumb, Cry).

Recently Kevin Godley has teamed up with Graham Goldman as GG06 (www.gg06.co.uk)

Very interesting. There were 4 clever chaps in 10cc so this GG06 project (which I never had heard of) must be checked out!

I have the Vinyl box (3 albums in a superb package) of Consequences. 2/3 of it talking (radio play) which becomes a bit boring to listen to after a while. But music from Consequences is an album with just the music. I think L and Freeze Frame are even better. Young prog lovers shuold try to get hold of a copy.

Have to remember these guys in 10cc were classic tin pan alley composers, generating memorable hit tunes for the Yardbirds, Hollies, etc. etc. before coming together for Neathanthal Man and then 10cc
