what is this i've been hearing lately that Return To Forever is reuniting in 2008 for an American and European tour? Is this true? can anyone confirm this? if it's true, i'll throw up! DeadLOL it's supposedely going to be the classic line-up too, from what i hear (Corea, Clarke, White, Di Meola)

i guess Chick Corea is gonna be doing RTF and Chick Corea Elekric Band at the same time (which is fine with me)

someone please say it's true. it'd be an awesome opportunity to see a band i thought i'd never see, like all the other fusion bands and prog bands from the 70's.

I had read an interview with Stanley Clarke about a month ago that basically said this was going to happen.  This gives the details thanks for the link.  Clap

But I really think this belongs in the Announcement/Press release thread. Wink

Hmm, their self-titled debut is awesomness incarnate, not so hot on the line-up with Di Meola.

I was recently browsing Stanley Clarke web site. Being a fan that I am I away read everything posted. As I scrolled down a heading caught my eye and at the same time shocked:

"Return To Forever WILL Return in 2008"
Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola and Lenny White Planning Extensive North American and European Tour

http://stanleyclarke.com/magazine/current_edition.html

It just blow me away. Last year I went to a concert with Jean-Luc Ponty, Bela Fleck, and Stanley Clarke (which I think I posted pictures in this forum, but I'm not sure.) When the concert was over, I went back stage (with the help of 25.00 bucks) and was told that they were going to a near by Pub. My brother and I raced to the pub and got in. They were having a session of question and answer with the local press. The question pop up like always:

When is the group Return to Forever going to record?

Being the gentlemen that he is. Stanley Clarke said that they were in conversation but that all four members (meaning Chick Corea, Al Di Meola and Lenny White and himself) had numerous recording, concert and separate projects that were making the get together a little difficult.

But looks like as years go by, and we get older. They came to terms and kind of fix their differences if any. For me and the Fusion world, its like the reunion of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eagles.

I'll post any other information that I can find.

It's unfortunate that Bill Connors does not seem to be along for the ride.

RTF is going to be a great show and tour. I hope that it plays St.L.  I wish that Jaco and Tony  Williams were still around then we could have another chance at Trio of Doom. Not enough music came out of Trio, just one CD.
