Once again it is time to delve into the secret life of progfans like the nosey sod that i am!!!this question is....What is the worst song you have ever heard,or the song that most angers and infuriates you!! it does not have to be prog,it can be any genre....for me its "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze..everytime i hear that song(and i try not to!!)...i want to scream. It takes self deprecating "sensitive male" cr*p to a new low!!,i feel like i want to bi**h slap him and say "Snap out of it Man!!!.just because you dance like a poncing Nancy Boy deosnt mean you have to be like one".....................okay im feeling better now anyway...whats yours?

It's really difficult to say, because you really don't know what it means being exposed to all these latin-sounding songs I have to swallow in Spain. Anyway, the worst song I've ever hear is from a spanish weirdo  you won't know about. But, thinking about anglo-speaking countries, there was once a infamous group of little american girls whose father insisted on recording a record. The result is now a more or less famous (for those in the know) musical torture. I think they were called 'The Shaggs'.

Again, as with bad movies, my example is not a case of a more or less well executed piece of work that somehow makes you scream. I'm talking about REAL ineptitude and REAL pain.

Any song by one of these reality show pop stars. The here today, gone tomorrow talentless but now rich gits that got lucky and didn,t have to work for their success pop stars. I automatically hate them and their songs even before I hear them.

Other than that, anything by Meatloaf.

Gawd Dude, your're a glutton for punishment! There's been so much bad music over the years, from pop-pap ("Seasons in the Sun" - Terry Jacks) to disco ("Sugar Daddy," by Patsy Gallant) to rap-crap (just about anything) to lots of that new death-metal stuff with a psychopathic gutteral-voiced "singer" screaming about how "everything sucks," or his love for Lucifer!

But in a "proggish" vein, I nominate Styx and the awful, juvenile, and just plain STOOPID "Mr. Roboto" (or, as I prefer to call it, "Mr. Loboto.") Even The Simpsons made fun of it! A song expressly designed to liquify yer brain!Nuke

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

AYE CARUMBA!

So much crap, so little time..... *think think think: ouch*.... OK I'll do it this way....

Music that pegs my suckometer -

60% of 60's pop (Big girls do cry when they hear a man sing like that)

80% of 70's pop (Billy please be a hero)

70% of 80's pop (Can we get a little less safety in that safety dance?)

90% of 90's pop (Mmm Bop you in the nose for recording that song)

95% of 00's pop so far (talentless twee boy bands and vacuous little blonde girls = sounds of wretching)

85% of country music (OH... I ran over my dog, then I wrecked my car, my woman walked out, so I went to the bar.....)

97% of disco (Stayin' Alive is not what I had in mind for you guys)

99.99% of rap/hip hop (Jimi Hendrix could play guitar, why can't you?)

60% of heavy metal (OK, so you can play guitar now learn to read music)

My nomination for worst song ever - "Feelings"

My nomination for most disappointing album that I actually bought - the Dave & Sammy less VAN HALEN 3

The whole of Country music - definitely the whole of country music ("my grandma was a cripple in Nashville etc etc etc") - any genre which can produce a completely serious song titled "drop kick me Jesus, through the goalposts of life" makes me reach for the Uzi everytime!

I was bought up listening to that tripe - can you believe it, me at 6 years old - the whole world going crazy over Sgt Peppers, the summer of love, psychedelia & proto prog-rock & what do I get played???? Country music, Jim Reeves & Elvis!

Worst ever song.........

has to be between 'Agadoo'(Black Lace), 'oops upside your head'(I neither know, nor care who sang that one) and the execrable 'I would do anything for love, but I wont do that'(Meatloaf).

Oh yes, and absolutely anything by Bonnie Tyler - who I suspect is just Meatloaf in drag, anyway

I would only have to turn on MTV to hear a bad song. to me, Rap and pop music seems to be nothing but a bass line set to softcore porn.
