I had four albums in my collection and never really payed much attention to them
I even thought DCD play sth like dark electronica music...
I have recently re-discovered their sound and I have to say I am amazed!
Great prog-folk with indie moments and melodies reminding of Loreena McKennitt a bit...
My collection consists of: Within the realm of a dying sun
Aion
Into the labyrinth
Spiritchaser
what say you?
any recommendations for further search?
I particularly enjoy Into the labyrinth and Aion at the moment

I think you will like The Serpent's Egg as well. Also look for Spleen And Ideal.

I have a 'Best of' collection of DCD. Very emotional and spiritually uplifting music even if it isn't prog in the traditional sense. There's a track called 'The Host of Seraphim' that is so beautiful it makes me tear-eyed. If I could choose a track for my funeral it would probably be that one :)

Those are the two albums of theirs I have, and I just listened to them both. Love it!

As other people have said The Sepent's Egg, I consider to be their best. Also you may want to try Lisa Gerrard's work with other artist's particularly "Duality"

Thanks Aapatsos for starting this thread...Never noticed this band before...I got myself the album "Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun" and it's incredible! I checked on some video's of them on YouTube, and they are exceptional. What a great band!

I am happy to see DCD getting second considering from members , because all hell broke loose when I included them.

^  , I can see why all hell broke loose... it's not easy to include a band like this one there is no clear relation to prog, but there is some excellent music in them...

Basically, you need to include Serpent's Egg and Spleen and Ideal, and that would be all.
Of course the debut, although a bit different in sound, more like goth rock/post punk, is also recommended...

Well I've reviewed all of their historical releases, and I must say that the gamble I took was worth it, although I still would like to see them in the prog-related section.
Thanks for Seyo for the work.
DCD started as Gothic/Cool Wave band somewhere between Bauhaus and The Cure with the first two releases.
But they gradually grew out of it and become Gothic Ambient for Dying Sunb and Serpent's Egg.
But Aion is their masterpiece, with lotsa edieval overtones. They went way more ethnic after that, though, especially with Spiritchaser.
If I may, for those considering investigating, go for the DVD Towards The Within >>> You'll get the full essence of DCD.

I agree, but that's just me maybe. Love the band though. Great neo-classical/darkwave band, like gods to goths.

I liked all of their albums, except for Spiritchaser. But, after playing it a few times in my tiki room, I've grown to like it.
